The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is a focused evolution of the original Chiron, engineered to advance speed, stability, and long-distance refinement. Rooted in Bugattiโs long-standing pursuit of absolute performance, the Super Sport emerged after the Chironโs 2016 debut, when engineers under Stephan Winkelmann and Frank Heyl pushed the platform further. That effort culminated in 2019, when a modified Chiron Super Sport 300+ became the first hypercar to exceed 300 mph, reaching 304.773 mph.
The road-going Super Sport is electronically limited to 273 mph but is directly derived from that record-setting machine. Power comes from Bugattiโs 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16, producing 1,578 horsepower and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. Revised turbochargers, improved cooling, and strengthened internals support sustained high-speed operation. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission manages the output, shifting into seventh gear at 261 mph and enabling 0โ60 mph in 2.3 seconds and 0โ124 mph in 5.8 seconds, despite a curb weight exceeding 4,400 pounds.
A reworked carbon-fiber monocoque, adaptive suspension, active aerodynamics, and rear-wheel steering ensure stability at extreme speeds. Visually, a 25-centimeter-longer longtail rear reduces aerodynamic wake, while EB110-inspired vents, refined airflow management, and bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires provide control beyond 250 mph.
Limited to 80 units from the Chironโs 500-car production run, the Chiron Super Sport is hand-built at Bugattiโs Molsheim atelier. It represents the brandโs most focused expression of craftsmanship and engineering, exemplified by this 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport currently listed for sale on Bring a Trailer with just 1,452 miles on the odometer.
Finished in Nocturne with exposed Black Carbon lower bodywork, the car rides on Super Sportโspecific five-spoke wheelsโ20 inches front and 21 inches rearโwrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires sized 285/30 and 355/25. Braking is handled by Italian Redโfinished titanium calipersโeight-piston front and six-piston rearโclamping 420mm front and 400mm rear carbon-ceramic rotors.
The cabin is trimmed in Italian Red and Beluga Black leather, with power-adjustable comfort bucket seats featuring Super Sport headrest embroidery. The minimalist dashboard integrates aluminum-housed analog-mechanical gauges, reinforcing the carโs mechanical focus. Standard equipment includes climate control, navigation, a premium audio system, and Bugattiโs driver interface with live telemetry and performance data. Despite its extreme performance, the Super Sport remains composed and comfortable at high speeds.
