FOR SALE: 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition

One of just 343 Heritage Edition GTs produced for the model year

This 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition combines the engineering of Ford’s modern mid-engine supercar with a distinctive appearance inspired by the company’s historic endurance-racing achievements. Offered through Bring a Trailer, this limited-production model pays tribute to the GT40 race cars that secured consecutive overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1968 and 1969. Its combination of motorsport heritage, supercharged V8 performance, and a six-speed manual transmission makes it a significant example of Ford’s early-2000s supercar program.

Produced for the final model year of the first-generation Ford GT, the Heritage Edition pays tribute to the GT40 Mk I race cars associated with Ford’s victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1968 and 1969. Its Heritage Blue exterior, Epic Orange accents, and painted Gulf-inspired racing stripes reproduce one of motorsport’s most recognizable liveries.

Only 343 Heritage Edition examples were produced for 2006, distinguishing this car from the standard GT. Its bodywork incorporates aluminum panels, a vented front hood, functional side air intakes, a front splitter, and a rear diffuser. Factory-optioned BBS forged aluminum wheels measure 18 inches at the front and 19 inches at the rear, complemented by Brembo brakes with black-finished calipers.

Power comes from a mid-mounted, 5.4-liter DOHC V8 featuring an aluminum block and cylinder heads, a Lysholm screw-type supercharger, dry-sump lubrication, and a water-to-air intercooler. Factory-rated output stands at 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. A Ricardo six-speed manual transaxle sends power to the rear wheels through a helical limited-slip differential. This configuration preserves a direct mechanical connection between driver and powertrain, distinguishing the first-generation GT from many contemporary supercars that rely on automated transmissions.

The cabin features Ebony leather upholstery and Sparco-designed seats with carbon-fiber shells, GT40-inspired ventilation grommets, and harness slots. An aluminum center console, rotary climate controls, toggle switches, and a classic instrument layout reinforce the car’s competition-inspired character. The central tachometer has a 6,500-rpm redline, while the speedometer extends to 220 mph.

The odometer displays just 559 miles, an exceptionally low figure for a car approaching two decades old. Despite its limited use, the Ford received approximately $20,000 in service work during 2026. Maintenance included fluid changes, air-conditioning service, replacement lower control arms and rear toe-link boots, and new front hood and rear clamshell struts. The listing includes service records, the original window sticker, an owner’s manual, two keys, a car cover, and a clean Carfax report.
