A 2025 Bugatti Mistral, one of the most significant modern hypercars ever produced, is set to cross the block at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction with an estimated value of $7.5 million to $9.5 million. This exceptional example represents the closing chapter of Bugatti’s celebrated W-16 era, serving as the final road-legal model powered by the marque’s iconic quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter engine.
Limited to just 99 units worldwide, every Mistral was spoken for before production began, cementing its status as one of Bugatti’s rarest and most desirable creations. Beneath its sculpted roadster bodywork lies the same 1,578-horsepower W-16 engine found in the Chiron Super Sport 300+, delivering 1,180 lb-ft of torque and breathtaking acceleration. In 2023, the Mistral achieved a verified 282.05-mph top speed, officially becoming the fastest open-top production car ever built.
Unlike conventional convertibles, the Mistral was engineered as a dedicated roadster without a retractable roof. Distinctive roof-mounted air intakes positioned behind the occupants feed the massive W-16 while intensifying the soundtrack of the engine and turbochargers, creating a uniquely immersive driving experience. The car’s sleek exterior also introduces signature X-shaped taillights that serve both aerodynamic and cooling functions, while the minimalist front fascia integrates slim vertical LED lighting optimized for airflow.
The interior reflects Bugatti’s renowned craftsmanship, pairing premium leather with precision-machined aluminum throughout the cabin. A standout feature is the aluminum gear selector, which incorporates an amber insert containing Rembrandt Bugatti’s iconic Dancing Elephant sculpture, blending artistic heritage with modern engineering.
Finished in an eye-catching Italian Red over Nocturne exterior with an Italian Red and Beluga Black leather interior, this single-owner Mistral had accumulated only 321 miles at the time of cataloging. It also benefits from approximately $325,000 in factory options and bespoke finishes, further enhancing its exclusivity. Included with the sale are a copy of the original window sticker, factory car cover, battery tender, tool kit, and owner’s manuals.
As the final production Bugatti to feature the legendary W-16 powertrain, the Mistral represents the culmination of nearly two decades of engineering excellence. With minimal mileage, extensive factory customization, and extraordinary historical significance, this example offers collectors a rare opportunity to acquire a landmark hypercar poised to become one of Bugatti’s defining modern classics.
