FOR SALE: 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S 3.6 Package

One of the rarest air-cooled 911s ever made

When unveiled in February 1993, the Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 was the most powerful production model Porsche had ever offered in North America. This rear-wheel-drive, widebody 911 featured a single turbocharger and delivered an impressive 355 horsepower. Porsche achieved this by turbocharging the 964โ€™s updated M64 3.6-liter engine, replacing the outgoing 3.3-liter unit.

As the 964 generation neared its end, Porsche introduced an even more potent versionโ€”the Turbo S. Each car was built by Porsche Exclusiveโ€™s Sonderwunsch (โ€œSpecial Requestโ€) division and equipped with unique performance enhancements. Production was expected to be limited to fewer than 100 units.

The Turbo S featured the X88 โ€œWorks Increased Horsepowerโ€ engine, inspired by Andial-built race engines for Brumos Racingโ€™s IMSA cars. Upgrades included a larger KKK turbocharger, an improved intercooler, modified cylinder heads, high-capacity fuel injectors, a four-pipe exhaust, and aggressive camshafts, resulting in 385 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. A G50 five-speed manual transmission with a ZF 40% locking differential managed power delivery.

Porsche initially built 39 X85 Flat-Nose Turbo S coupes for the U.S., later adding 17 standard-nose “Package” models, making them among the rarest air-cooled 911s ever. Now, one of these coveted Turbo S 3.6 โ€œPackageโ€ models is available for auction on Bring A Trailer, offering enthusiasts the chance to own one of the rarest air-cooled 911s ever produced.

Finished in Grand Prix White, it features a revised front splitter, asymmetrical 959-style quarter panel air intakes, a louvered rear spoiler, and quad exhaust tips. Additional exterior details include a rear window wiper, aerodynamic side mirrors, a power sunroof, and headlight washers.ย  Inside, Classic Grey leather upholstery covers the seats, dashboard, and door panels. Features include power-adjustable front seats, air conditioning, power windows, and a Porsche CR-1 cassette stereo with a six-disc CD changer.

It rides on polished 18โ€ณ Speedline Cup wheels with Turbo-script center caps, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Braking is handled by red Porsche-branded calipers over cross-drilled rotors. The 3.6L M64/50 flat-six, equipped with the X88 power kit, produces 380 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. A strengthened flywheel, clutch, and quad-exit exhaust system with modified heat exchangers were standard for Turbo S models.
