VIDEO: Koenigsegg Agera RS Drag Races a Tesla Model X Plaid

The Tesla Model X, one of the pioneering electric SUVs, has built a strong reputation over time, and the Plaid version, featuring 1,020 horsepower from three electric motors, is known for its incredible performance, rivaling even some of the fastest supercars.

In theory, a high-performance combustion engine car like the Koenigsegg Agera RS, with its 1,360 horsepower V8 and lightweight design, would have an advantage over the much heavier electric SUV. Not to mention that it costs aย  jaw-dropping ยฃ3.5 million or $4.5 million USD!

The Koenigsegg has a 340-horsepower edge and weighs over a ton less than the Model X Plaid, though it relies on rear-wheel drive versus the Teslaโ€™s all-wheel-drive system. However, in a series of races organized by carwow on YouTube, the Tesla outperformed the Agera RS consistently.

In the first race, the Koenigsegg lost ground due to double gear shifts; in the second, it had a late start, and while the third attempt was nearly flawless, the Model X Plaid still emerged victorious. Even with a rolling start, which theoretically diminishes the Teslaโ€™s advantage, the Model X remained dominant, showcasing the relentless efficiency of electric power delivery.
