Jay Leno and automotive historian Donald Osborne recently explored one of the world’s most advanced hypercars by taking the Audrain Museum‘s Koenigsegg Jesko Attack onto public roads, demonstrating that extreme performance and everyday usability are no longer mutually exclusive. Rather than focusing solely on breathtaking power figures, the discussion highlighted the engineering philosophy that has made Koenigsegg one of the industry’s most respected boutique manufacturers.
At the heart of the Jesko Attack is Koenigsegg’s uncompromising approach to in-house development. Unlike many exotic automakers that source major components externally, the Swedish company engineers virtually every aspect of the vehicle, from its twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 to its revolutionary multi-clutch Light Speed Transmission (LST). This innovative gearbox eliminates traditional sequential shifting, allowing near-instant gear selection and showcasing a level of drivetrain innovation rarely seen in production automobiles.
Inside, the Jesko combines carbon-fiber construction with premium craftsmanship rather than using lightweight materials solely for visual effect. Leno ultimately concluded that the Jesko justifies its multimillion-dollar price tag not through exclusivity alone, but through exceptional engineering integrity, manufacturing quality, and reliability.
