Two Koenigsegg Hypercars Drag Race Against Each Other

The Jesko Absolut emerged victorious, completing the run in 8.9 seconds, while the Regera finished in 10.2 seconds

On Koenigsegg’s private test track in Sweden, two iconic hypercars—the Jesko Absolut and the Regera—competed in a drag race that thrilled performance car fans. Koenigsegg, the renowned Swedish hypercar brand, is known for pushing engineering boundaries with unmatched precision. Its V8 engine boasts the highest power-to-displacement ratio globally, and its hybrid systems rank among the most advanced and daring ever built.

In collaboration with Carwow, the automaker organized this showdown, matching the Jesko Absolut—its fastest production car—against the Regera, a previous world record holder. The Jesko Absolut, which recently claimed the record for accelerating from 0 to 400 km/h and back to 0 in just 27.83 seconds, took center stage.

The Jesko Absolut is powered by a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 1,600 horsepower and 1,500 Nm of torque, all sent to the rear wheels via a unique 9-speed multi-clutch automatic transmission. The car weighs just 1390 kg and has Michelin Cup 2R tires.

The Regera, on the other hand, combines the same V8 with three electric motors to deliver a total of 1500 hp and 2000 Nm of torque through a unique single-speed transmission, akin to systems used in EVs. Its hybrid setup, including a 75 kg 4.5 kWh battery, brings its total weight to 1590 kg.

In the quarter-mile, the Jesko clocked 8.9 seconds, ahead of the Regera’s 10.2. From 0 to 60 mph, the Jesko managed 2.78 seconds, while the Regera followed with 3.4 seconds. The Jesko’s dominance increased at higher speeds, even with both drivers struggling for grip. Even in rolling starts, the Jesko consistently outpaced the Regera, though the latter leveraged its electric torque for stronger launches at lower speeds.
