Ultra-Rare Koenigsegg Regera With Ghost Package to Be Auctioned

One of just 80 Regeras produced worldwide between 2016 and 2022

Set to cross the block at Mecum Auctions on September 26, this 2019 Koenigsegg Regera represents one of the Swedish marque’s most technically ambitious hypercars. It is one of just 80 Regeras produced worldwide between 2016 and 2022, and even more exclusive as one of only five examples equipped with both the Environmental Power Upgrade and Ghost Package. With more than $1 million invested in bespoke options, this Regera combines extreme performance with highly individualized specification.

The Regera made its conceptual debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, followed by the production model’s unveiling at the same event a year later. While its styling remains unmistakably Koenigsegg, the Regera introduced a substantially different engineering philosophy. Its signature Dihedral Synchro-helix doors pivot outward and upward, making access easier in confined spaces while adding to the car’s visual drama.

The carbon-fiber monocoque also provides sufficient structural rigidity to accommodate a removable roof. Unlike many convertibles, the Regera’s carbon-fiber roof panel can be stored as a single piece within the front luggage compartment, effectively transforming the hypercar into an extraordinarily fast open-top machine without requiring the roof to be left behind.

Its most significant departure from conventional hypercar architecture, however, is the powertrain. Koenigsegg developed the Direct Drive system to eliminate the conventional multi-speed gearbox. At its center is a 5,065cc DOHC twin-turbocharged V-8, supplemented by three independent electric motors. Two motors drive the rear half-axles individually, while a third assists the engine through the crankshaft, collectively adding substantial electric propulsion and enabling exceptionally precise torque management.

The combustion engine alone produces more than 1,000 horsepower, while the combined system is rated at 1,500 hp, rising to an extraordinary 1,757 hp when running on E85. An 800-volt battery system derived from Formula 1 technology supplies the electrical energy, while Koenigsegg’s hydraulic coupling mechanism replaces the conventional transmission with a single-speed direct-drive arrangement. The resulting performance is extraordinary, with a claimed 251-mph top speed. The Regera has also demonstrated blistering acceleration, including a documented 0–250–0 mph run in 31.49 seconds.

This particular example is finished in Candy Apple Red-tinted carbon fiber, paired with a Burgundy Desiato leather interior, four-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension, adjustable dampers, ventilated ceramic disc brakes, and Tresex AirCore carbon-fiber wheels. With its exceptionally rare factory specification and more than $1 million in bespoke equipment, it stands as a particularly significant example of Koenigsegg’s hybrid-hypercar engineering.
