0--60 in 4.9? They wish

Discussion in '1993 Mazda RX-7 JM1FD' started by MidNinties, Aug 10, 2002.

  1. They have no idea what they are talking about, the mazda rx-7 does not go 0-60 in 4.9 sec, its more like 5.9 sec, well maybe a little less but no way 4.9, it is not faster than a supra TT 0-60 or even a 3000GT VR-4.<!-- Signature -->

Youre right it does the 0-60 in 4.8 seconds .1 second faster. Its sad when ignorants toss shit outta their assholes.<!-- Signature -->

well sorry to dissappoint you but it does. it might not have enough power as either one but it's got a huge weight advantage

not to mention it would run circles around both those cars on the track.

oh great quote by the way MidNinties... brilliant... really shows your maturity level

  5. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

Got a quote from Mazda themselves, 0-60 in 5.2<!-- Signature -->

  6. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

and btw 3000GT's are SLOWWW compared to the RX-7 and Supra

they are #$%#n whales.. weigh 3800lbs.

shit even RX-7 owners consider Supras whales and those are "only" 3400lbs.

  7. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

Hey, get a quote from Mazda on Horsepower as well. See what number they give you. Japan is famous under rating numbers in a few vehicles. Perhaps they under rated this as well. <IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif"><!-- Signature -->

RX7 guy is right. Or so i heard. i was told by a mazda pro that his stock on had 317hp at the fly wheel and 270hp at the rear wheels. the only thing i have to say about the 255hp is that epa standards are a *****.

  9. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

In actuality it does 4.8.But,Mazda can't say that because in 1988 all major Japaneese car manuf's signed an agreement that said that neither of them was going to import a sports car over 276HP.Mazda stayed true to that agreement where Mitsu,Toyota and Nissan did not. When word got out in 1990 that Nissan put out the Z at 300HP and the NEXT Supra was rated at 320HP,Mazda said #$%# it and blasted the engine. The RX-7 was originaly meant to have 276 RWHP(Rear wheel HP)which would be about 310 Flywheel HP.Fly wheel HP is the number you always see.Mazda was screwed,Toyota Mitsu and Nissan lied and said that their cars are holding true to the agreement.Bullshit, but it worked.Mazda decreased the engine output to 255 HP.Nobody could believe that the RX-7 could push 4.8 with 255 HP.And the truth is it can't beause Mazda was smart and they gave the 255 HP to be as RWHP,where in truth it really does 276 Flywheel and still stays true to the signed paper. When my 7 was stock I did dyno testing and track testing.Dyno said 280HP on the Flywheel and I could easily do a 4.8 or 4.9 on the strip.<!-- Signature -->

Hey RX7 twin turbo I have no idea where you get your car facts from but they are incorrect, nothing in that sort ever happened,Mazda is not included exclusively with other Japanese car manufacturers, all of Mazda's regulatories come from Ford Motor Co. <!-- Signature -->

LOL.You have a shit load of wrong info on your hands. You have no idea about RX-7's or other cars for that matter.Do your research dimbrain and you'll see that what I said before is true. How old are you? Like 7. Shit, I'm 18 and have had my 7 for a year, and know everything there is to know about it. I've spent more then $40K on the car and do all the work myself and with my dad. Together my father and I own a 1993 Supra T72, 1993 RX-7 T88, 1997 BMW M3, and 2 Corvettes (1969 Stingray,1995 ZR-1). There are lots of search engines out there, use them and learn something. For the RX-7 I recommend www.RX7club.com <!-- Signature -->

  14. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

You guys that own gen 3 Rx-7's, do you have the problems posted on other sites like overheating, reliability problems etc? I am looking to get a gen 3 RX-7 in the next couple months but I am a little hesitant because of this?

  15. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

  17. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

Uhh sorry I own a 3kgt and a 93rx7, god this is so retarded, the rx7 is faster. It's called GRAVITY. Stealth and 3kgt come in at almost 3800lbs/320hp RX7 27-2800lbs/255hp. ok now 70 more hp IS NOT going to make up for 1000lbs.Do the math

  18. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

i heard that you have to let the engine warm up for two minutes before and after running your 3rd gen to majorly decrease engine wear is this true

i will be buying a 93 in four months

and whats the most throaty/raspy sounding exhaust for the 3 rd gen ?

  19. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

actually it does go 0-60 in 4.9. and it is faster than a supra TT from 0-60. The supras time is around 5.3, but past 60 the supra will beat the RX7

  20. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

dude, if you put $5000 on rx7, it'll run 0-60 in 4.5 sec. If you put $7000 on 3000Gt it wont run 4.5 for sure.

  21. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

i'd just like to compliment "rx7twinturbo" on his taste in automobiles.
    ZR-1s rock.

  22. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

just to correct an itty bitty technicality, it's not called gravity; it's called static inertia.

Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

Hey guys, I will clarify things for everyone. The RX-7, DOES run 0-60 lower than 5 seconds, without breaking a sweat. In most tests, the RX-7 will run right alongside a supra, no problem. The RX-7 is more nimble, far lighter, and more aerodynamic, somewhat due to size. The RX-7 is MUCH smaller, believe it or not. I have driven almost every Japanese sports car on the planet, with the exception of Skylines and Lancer Evo's. I like the comment saying that the 3000GT does 0-60 faster than an RX-7. GOOD LUCK. I own a 1999 VR4(I recently sold my 96 RX, I have pics if you dont believe me), and I garuntee you, it will NOT outrun an RX-7. I love my car, but I know the facts. My car is NOT a sports car, it is a GT car, weighing in at 3800 Lbs, it has so many more options, AWD(LOTS of weight added) tunable exhaust, suspension, and the previous models has tunable aerodynamics. Mine also has 4 seats. The RX-7 is the only Japanese sports or GT car to have 2 seats. It will run circles around Supras and VR4's. In 1993, it was the best handling Japanese car on the planet, and I do believe the only car to outhandle it now is the Evolution. If you dont believe me on this, its not worth arguing with me. I work for one of my best friends Henry, who owns our shop. Our site is www.revolutionsmotorsports.com . Its not worth arguing with me, Ive been working with Imports for YEARS. Oh, to answer the question about warm up/cool down for 2 minutes, yes, this does help. It lets the oil circulate the oil as it cools, so it doesnt cool to quick and coke in the turbo. This extends the life of the turbos. A note - the FD3S RX-7 was prone to overheating, due to a constrictive pre-cat that didnt let all the exhaust through quickly enough(which is why the car has an exhaust overheating warning light in the console). This is simple enough to resolve, but can be very damaging if not taken care of before about 50k miles.

  24. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

Road and track tested the american delivered version at 0-60 in 5.2 seconds
The jap 1995 Rx7 was 0-60 in 4.8 seconds or less and a flat 13 on the 1/4 mile.
These cars are almost exactly identical except for a slightly different tune for the lower octane america has.

  25. Re: 0--60 in 4.9? They wish

First off, the stealth is not faster than the RX-7. Its a huge hunk of metal. Second, Mazda wasn't owned by Ford when the RX-7 was designed and therefore was NOT governed by Fords moronic domestic "rules" yet. Wow, it's amazing how many idiots think they know things about cars.
