its simple. 1/3 is .3 to infinity when converted to decimals. whats .3 repeating timed 3? .9 repeating. its basicaly a problem with decimals not being able to fully describe 1/3+1/3+1/3 (if written with decimals) without going on to infinity. so .9 to infinity IS 1. saying that this is not true is like saying that 1/3 isnt really 1/3. heres another way to put it. .9 repeating devided by 3 is .3 repeating. .3 repeating is = 1/3. 1/3*3 = 1. get it?
i cant believe this has gone on for 7 pages, anyone with any sort of first year math would surely know that .99999... =1. all others without this education that think they know what they are talking about are ignorant, just look at the testimony of professors all over this thread, and the algebraic proofs
Only 1 is truly = to 1 one doesnt = 1 1/2 + 1/2 doesnt = 1 .9999999999999999999999999999999999 doesnt = to 1 But .9999999999999 = .9999999999999 ONLY Because I said so!!!!! I know numerically , mathematically and logically it really does = 1. But in pure appreance form it doesnt. and technically maybe it does.
okay, provide me with the links again. I wanna see how this works. So lets say you times Pandabeat with .999999999999999 you get Pandabeat or pandabeat X .999999999999999? because I took Logic and they told us that if something is either red or non red. so something is either 1 or non 1 So therefore .99999999 isnt 1 That is the logic I was basing it on.
In real life you could never measure the difference, so the point is mute. In real life it would equal 1.
youre just a complete moron, thats all. there have been about 50 links posted in this thread with various solutions for you. If you cant comprehend it, jump off a bridge. Its basic #$%#ing algebra, or if you want more, we threw calc at you too. just shut up and go away.
the 9s never end. things aren't as simple as red vs notred <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/tongue.gif"></A>.
Someone in this thread said this and I agree Practically it is, but technically it isnt. You lose! If you take Logic, you will see what I mean. I dont care if the highest level of math porves it. Technical Logic disproves what you are saying. In real life, yes everyone will agree, but what I am comparing it with. In that field it doesnt work. So just suck it up and accept it! You will fail the class, if you took the class and keep pushing your views
I know, but .99999999999999(infinite) is still short of .00000000000(infinite 0s)0000001 . therefore it isnt 1
