wrong, the Series 6-8 RX7 is hot dang, damn sexy
i agree (aside from the "wrong" bit of course <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A> )
Seeing how you don't know what the #$%# you're talking about, I'll place you under the dumbass category. Since the 8 does not have the straight line speed as a 350 does, how do you explain track times being the same for the two? Oh whats that? It makes it up in the handling department, oh ok.. that makes sense now..
yes...it's an RX8 in his avatar. and he owns another rotary mazda, the RX7.
Witch happens to be a old two dore model of this, both good cars.
Should I put you under the category of "dumbasses who think the top gear test track is the be-all end-all measure of vehicle performance"? Try looking at real racetracks, bub. Here's just one example: Hockenheim:
1:19.5 --- Mazda RX-8
1:16.766 Nissan 350
Sorry, but that's a hell of a lot of time. Look times up for Tsukuba, Fuji Speedway, and if you can, watch the Best Motoring video that was supposed to showcase the RX8, but ended up being a mixed review. Actually watch the video of the RX8 on the track. It gets outhandled by the DC5 Type R, and is beaten in virtually every way imagineable by the S2000, WRX, and is actually outhandled by the G35 Coupe. Give me a break. Not to mention the RX8 started to lose its tires and brakes halfway through the race. Who's the dumbass now?
If Mazda is going to make a rotary powered car, it doesn't make sense to put it in a family-maybe-4-door-sorta sports car but not quite fast enough category. I mean, it's actually slower than the previous RX7. If it's that slow, who the hell does this car appeal to? It's not fast enough to appeal to a sports car enthusiast with a brain or any real experience with sports cars, and it's not family oriented enough to be a family car. Mazda should make up its damn mind already.
The funny thing is that in the reviews i have read they either get the same rating or the RX-8 gets a better rating. prof that there is more to a 'sports' car than its track time. and since when have we used best motoring as a guage for comparisions?
obviously the rx8 is not ment to be quicker than the turbocharged rx7, however like the rx7 (all gens) the rx8 is ment to be a car that is fun to drive.
I guess if you're just going to drive the car around and never actually go into any sort of competition, whether it be drag racing, autocross, or road racing, then maybe that would make sense. In that case, you're a douche that drives the car like an ass on public roads or someone who owns the car purely for the image.
It's kinda sad when my 18 year old RX7 whoops on RX8s in autocross.
the track i go to considers the rx8 a 1.3L and thus its in a lower class than me (1.8L). its a stupid system, but if you want to wax a bunch of 'toy cars' a rx8 would be the way to go. you could also consider someone who takes their car to the track to be competitive rather than enjoying their car and learning about its limits a douche. and lets be honest we all drive 'sportingly' on public roads from time to time, without being stupid about it.
i've beaten a late model rx7(turbo) at the track, doesn't mean its not capable of beating a miata.
As per SCCA's rulebook, the RX-8 is in the same class as the MR2 Turbo, G35 (C), S2000, and the Boxster. Considering how badly it got trounced by the G35 coupe and S2000, you're not going to be very competitive at the track. Seriously, if I had $30,000, I could think of better cars to buy.
That color makes it look really nice.
But you can seat 4 in a RX8... unlike a RX7... hehehe
Nice paint scheme. If that's the only thing it's got going for it than I don't think it'll be worth buying. It needs some power to go with the suspension tweaks.
it sounds like they made one for 'Mr.jo average cant drive'
that would be fairer. whatever flicks your switch.
