1 lap at LeMans '99 in a CLK-GTR

dude, its a CLR

 

is it just me, or does it have unusually short gearing for Le Mans?

or is it really that damn fast?

 

Eight years later it still looks as if it was from the future. I do remember the race and I'm still sorry for they had to redraw. The video gives you a clue how superior it was to it's classmates (notice how easily it overtook the Toyota). And still the final results gave an outlook into the future, since fuel economy won BMW the race.

At 2:25, he says that he's going 340km/h.

So yeah, its that damn fast.

 

it didn't overtake the Toyota in this vid. The GT1 was being seriously held up by traffic ahead of him. At the end of the vid, neither is inching forward as they shift up. We can't tell who would have the racing line for the first corner since we don't know who will nose out the other.

 

how was the CLR superior... aside from flipping? It flipped practice, qualifying, and 5 times during the race...

 

man, those things looked so funky. i much prefer the CLK-GTR styling

 

the CLK also ran V8s
