1000 pounds for a "heavy, luxurious" car?

  1. Either that weight is for the competition car, or the "heavy" Ferraris of the 50's were still EXCEPTIONALLY light.
     
  2. Wow, I'm not so sure I believe that weight, either: the target weight for the McLaren F1's ENGINE was 250 kg, and even that wasn't met.
     
  3. Yeah, modern Caterhams are 1300lbs. Has to be an error...
     
  4. Not necessarily. I've seen one of these in the flesh (Greenwich Concorso Italiano). It's a very small car with a small-displacement engine. Also, depsite being 'luxurious', it's basically just an engine with a seat on it. I guess leather=luxury. It's certainly no Rolls-Royce in that regard.
     
  5. 4L engine of the old technology and the lightest body will NOT be 450kg.
     
  6. Bugatti was using aluminum blocks in the 1930's. Check the weight of a Type 35- if this weighs less, there is obviously an error.

  9. Yeah, you did, but at 2200 pounds it's still fairly lightweight.
