Y'know, sometimes people say things and they creep into the back of your mind and rest there until they drive you insane. That's what your license plate comment did to me. It made me realize that I hated it, too. When I wrecked the car the insurance company only wanted to pay to paint one side of the car. I learned that paint two-stage over lacquer doesn't work well on a car that you plan on keeping. I convinced Hagerty that it was in their best interest to paint the whole car since they weren't willing to give me a lifetime guarantee on blending the paint. The whole car was taken to bare metal and built up into an extraordinarily nice paint job. The owner of the shop runs the Meadow Brook Concours and invited the car for this year's show. He made sure the car was perfect. He called as they were finishing the car and told me that he needed another week because the front bumper didn't turn out perfect. It was then that your comment sprung forth and I said, "Y'know, I'd sure like to see that front license plate bracket go away". The holes were welded up, the bumper refinished and I have to say that I thank you for voicing your opinion.
