1989 Ford Saleen Mustang SSC With Just 7,918 Miles for $36,900

When the Mustang celebrated its 25th birthday, Ford absent-mindedly seemed to had ignored the date. The American automaker didn’t create a special edition model to commemorate 25 years of domestic performance, so Steve Saleen took matters into his own hands by creating 895 limited edition Mustang SSCs.

Over a decade later, spotting a 1989 Ford Saleen Mustang SSC is rare. That year, Saleen only produced 161 of them and finding one up for sale with just 7,918 miles is just crazy in our books. But that’s exactly what is up for sale right now, an all-original Saleen SSC powered by a 5.0-liter V8 with 292 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque.

The vehicle has been untouched, and for most automotive collectors it’s as good as it gets. The body is immaculate while the interior is pristine; the drivetrain boasts a Borg Warner five-speed transmission mated to the Saleen-upgraded powerplant. From the factory, the 5.0-liter V8 made 225 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, so clearly Saleen’s touch improved performance quite a bit.

For those that don’t know the SSC model well, the interior features no rear seat while the chassis has been further reinforced with a four-point brace.

Strangely enough, this vehicle is numbered 175, which represents its position in the overall 895 even though Saleen only built 161 SSCs in 1989. But hey, the numbers have been verified by Saleen and it’s the real deal with less than 8,000 miles on the odometer.
