8. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

I would prefer the '65 GTO. It has more power, its a well known American car, and you can hear the purr of the engine. oooh yea....

9. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

Old definetely cuz you'd get laid in an old goat convertible first then you would in this one, plus there's more room to bang in the back

The '65, no doubt.

13. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

You always have to go back to the old cars when it comes to power. You can do pretty much anything you want to an old car and not have to change too many things, but with a new car if you get diffrent tires on it you need to change the computer it seems. Although the creators had a great idea i just think it should look more like the '65 GTO and not these new concepts. Along with the new Camaros... They would sell alot more if they would make them look like the '67-'69s. Very few cars make it through the years, but the ones that do kept (or went back to) the old look I.E. corvette and mustang.

14. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

Well, I don't like this new one much, I don't have much knowledge of the last one. I am from Australia, so I certainly know the looks of this new Pontiac very well as it is just a slight facelift on our Holden Monaro. But when people say that it the old one looks better, i at time disagree with the whole issue. Our society must move forward, what will happen if we continually produce these retro styled cars? we'll just sit in the past. One or two are okay, but we've had more than one or two, much more. I think what GM should have done is put a whole lot of tallented designers together to combine the old with the new, I mean make a totally different one than what you see at the moment, something with style, and something that is unique, that new pontiac is certainly not unique. The old one was a hit back in the days, but I think we should leave it where it is and move on, I somehow don't think it will be as bigger hit again.

I've said my piece.

15. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

ok, this car looks better than the aussie(original) version, looks more aggressive yes.. but it comes not nearlly as close as the old 65' GTO in looks for me, this is just.... a holden really... nuff said :p lol

16. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

Old one..this is just a HSV copycat..

17. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

I'd take a HSV GTS coupe!!!!! The new GTO is a complete fudge of the Aussie Holden Special Vehicles GTS Coupe (except for the engine which is downrated in the case of the GTO). Check out some pics of the HSV GTS Coupe and then you'll know what I'm talking about. Though I guess GM has a right to do this since Holden is a GM brand........

18. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

I'd have to go old school as well. The old one is just too cool. It's like the ultimate sleeper.

19. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

agressive looks?! #$%# off!!! it doesn't get much more agressive that the 65, and you don't get much less agressive than this car! i was really hoping that pontiac would make something that would live up to this name...starting with ferrari, GTO stood for automotive excellence in every aspect of the vehicle. then pontiac ushered in an entire era with the 64 GTO. so what the hell is special about this one? nothing. it's just a marketing ploy. sure, it may have a few extra horses compared to recent market cars, but it takes more than that to live up to this name. the answer to your question, in case you couldn't tell, is i would choose the 65 before my brain could even process the question...it would be like an instinct...like a tiger

20. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

Whoever said that the new one has an aggressive look to it, I mean seriously, are we looking at the same car?? I would take the old one in a heartbeat over this 'adaptation' of a musclecar legend.

21. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

Neither they're both garbage!
Imports Rule!!!!!!

22. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

This is not based on the HSV GTS, it is based on the Holden Monaro, why would you bother to create a C5B engine and then reduce the power of it, what a waste. It is an LS1 engine just like the standard 225 kw V8 int he Holden's, apart from having a few extra mods. The HSV body kits are okay, but a bit over the top considering the performance is only average, 0-100km/h in 5.8 sec, whooooohhhhh.

23. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

oh god, no comparison, old one, ask me about the new charger vs the old..old one....the muscle car era was the greatest..speaking of the GTO, any one seen XXX?

24. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

The 1965...absolutely, no question!

25. Re: 2004 gto, or 1965 gto?

if you want to call it a GTO, you need to make it enormous and require a boat captain's license for everyone who drives it. today's sedan comes nowhere near the size needed to compare to the big muscle of the 60's.
