"The SRT 10 will be known as a one year wonder. The SVT gang is going roll over SRT and their German Kroute eating President." Dumbest comment ever.
"The SRT 10 will be known as a one year wonder. The SVT gang is going roll over SRT and their German Kroute eating President." - It's funny because it's true.
i don't really care about that comment, but the SRT is a serioulsy a terrible performer in relativity. if you look at the claimed numbers, and what it actually did, it's pathetic, and like 10 grand more than the lightning.
What were the claims? Car and Driver got some pretty impressive numbers out of it. Either way, I don't think the hotrod fullsize pickup is all that great an idea to begin with, I just prefer the SRT-10's V10 to the Ford 5.4.
i don't mean performance numbers they predicted, i mean 500 horsepower and a fairly low trap speed. which means it probably didn't make 500 horsepower. i really like sport trucks, and i prefer a blown V8.
pathetic? MT got the srt10 to do 0-60 in 4.8 and 13.18 @ 107 in the 1/4. It also set the world record for production trucks, doing a 154.587 mph.
MT seems to always get some pretty radical numbers.. and 107 trap speed isn't exactly what people were expecting.
What exactly where they expecting? The Viper traps at about 120 mph on average, with the same horsepower and about 1,700 lbs less weight. Expecting more would be pretty unreasonable. In fact, if you go here: http://www.web-cars.com/math/qtr_mile.html and enter the Ram's horsepower, weight and configuration, guess what result you get? Car weight: 5139 lbs. Horsepower: 500 hp Configuration: Rear Wheel Drive Results Quarter Mile Acceleration: 13.733 seconds. Terminal speed: 107.6394 mph. Pretty much right on target, except that the real one does a bit better with the ET in Motor trend, as it did in Car and Driver with 13.6 sec @ 105 mph. So I don't know why you'd doubt that it's actually making 500 hp, it's just really heavy.
well no duh is set the record in speed for production trucks, the thing has a 8.3 liter V-10 making 500 ponies, but since the V-8 lightning is coming out with probably the same..or more power, it most likely will beat the SRT in probably every aspect of performance, due to its 2 less cyclinders which makes better power to weight ratio. But I did put alot of "probablys" in there, so i may be off on some things.
sounds like some ford lovers are getting ahead of themselves here..lol Until I see the Lightning take back these records in a reputable magazine I wouldnt jump to too many conclusions. It would help if someone knows the actual weight of the Lightning and the confirmed flywheel horsepower. If this water cooling idea is actually reliable for the temporary 50 horsepower boost to 550 then Im guessing it will have the edge, Im also guessing it will be lighter. So mabye you're right, we'll have to wait though. Hopefully Dodge can add 50 housepower and make a RAM GTS version thats blue with white stripes
