  1. I could stick them up yours when I'm done with mafalda.

  2. Counter-Quoked.

  3. How about the DH trap of the new car during the 7.24 attempt? Any info?

  4. Oh my. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/amazed.gif"></A>

  5. I ask a question to the experts: same conditions, same time, same speed. Why?

  6. I ask a question to the experts: same conditions, same time, same speed. Why?

  7. GT-R 530ps 7'24"4 Vs GT-R MY09 485ps 7'26"7?

  8. Yes... :O

  9. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
same time, same speed, and don't forget 530ps has improved Cx and trasmission...
my bet is: same power, but I'm pretty sure "he" will find a different answer
    - correction factors
    - weather
    - it happens
    - it don't prove anything
    - Ferrari media manipulations

    1. about sport Auto, you've forgot the hotlap @ Rin, please fix it <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>
    2. 0-100 3.3, and 0-200 11.5... as like as the 485ps by C&D....hahahah
oh, it was not a media manipullation,... correction factors!!hahahah
    3. hotlaps claimed
    MY08 7.29
    MY09 7.26:7
    MY11 530ps 7.24:44 (and it's not an extreme lap... <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/amazed.gif"></A> )

    Tested
    MY08: 7.50
    MY09: 7.38
    MY10: 7.43 (20.8 Km + passenger)
    530ps: 7.36
    530ps: 7.34

  11. Thanks for the picture. These are very interesting data.
Expecially to know more info about the climatic conditions.

  12. I don't think so thin meteo discrepancies may justified similar performance. Could it be?

  13. few °C? no, it couldn't.... but now "he" will come to show us how it is possible <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>

  14. How do we know same conditions?

BTW, try your screen caps from the Audi banner to Antoniusbuche bridge. You will see greater difference.

  15. Mafalda, for the 1000th time, that 485 hp GT-R NEVER DID 0-200 IN 11.5. Do you understand this??? If not, then STFU.

I'm talking about about the customer GT-R hitting those same speeds in the same time. Plus R&T's GT-R:

    11.1 sec @ 124.3 mph

They don't use altitude and temperature corrections.

    MY09
    0-200: 13.1
    Ring: 7:38
    max speed on DH: 276

    530ps
    0-200: 11.5
    Ring: 7:34-36
    max speed on DH: 286

Clearly, there is a power increase, but only 4s difference on the 'Ring.

mafalda, we have pictures of HvS lapping the 'Ring on same day that Suzuki beat him by 12s. How do you think this is possible? Only Suzuki's car has 600ps? <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A> Why is TopGear's 'Ring mule slower on the autobahn than a 997.1 Turbo? This doesn't even sound like Stage 1 (520-530hp) performance. Mk1 mule hit same speed @ DH @ same spot as DR's customer car.

  16. More on conditions variations.

AutoZeitung have tested a 2011 GT-R with the 997TTS. That car hit 0-200 in 11.2s (just like customer VBoxed car). Porsche in the same test hit 0-200 in 9.8s. Faster times than elsewhere, and all due engine spec differences? Not necessarily. Description of that test:
"the testcar was in 'extremely good form' and the temperatures were low when they tested it."

Makes sense. Look at Sport Auto's 997TTS, yellow press car "SGO521".
    0-200: 10.6
    NRing: 7:44

Same car, tested by AutoBild last year
    0-200: 10.0
NRing: 7:41 (more like 7:36 on 20.6km, even faster w/o passenger)

How is this possible? Well, consider the explanation given about the test: temperature. In the Sport Auto test, air temp was 24C. In AutoBild test, temperature fluctuated around 12-16C.

Sport Auto's 997TTS was slower in some corners than the 997TT tested the same day, and faster on DH straight by 7 kph; faster than 997.1 GT2 by 2 kph. Yet, its lap time is only 3s different from the regular TT.
You can have higher hp cars slower than before. We have seen that even on short course like HRing, where 600 hp SRT-10 coupe is slower than 500 hp SRT-10 roadster, or 996.2 Carrera slower than 996.1 despite +20 hp. On the 'Ring, it's reasonable to assume we can have similar variation. Like CH says, differences in time on the 'Ring can say far more about the drivers and conditions of circuit than about the cars in question.

  17. I did it yet, but we can conclude just within .2s on a 23 secs run.

  18. I think these are great points, but these are just cases. These aren't rules able to justified every other case. Ok about climatic conditions, I agreed the point, we talked from a top temperature of 16°C to 11°C anyway. It may not justify the video as it may.

  19. I agreed your (Guibo and 906) points about climatic conditions. This not seems a huge difference case to conclude at the vary of temperature. Variation tempetaure during the two days were so thin and this will be a point to reference.

  20. Variation temperature compared the two days.. were so thin. It was not a case of temperature fluctuated from very high 20 degrees to some low few degrees.

  21. The variables are still a factor. We don't know if 2009 time was done close to min temp for the day vs 2010 time close to max. Humidity may also be a factor. Rain was not a consideration for the 2009 time. It was the reason for the 2010 full attack run being cancelled, so we can reasonably assume humidity is a factor. The 2010 run was also late in the season.
Wind velocity and direction? Both can change rapidly on the 'Ring (and differently at different parts of the track).

I am wondering why there is not a similar multitude of threads for the ZR1, which failed to match its claimed time by 12 seconds. Any guesses? Both cars reached a maximum speed of 288 kph somewhere on the final straight, and in some corners, particularly slow ones that favor pure mechanical grip, HvS was actually a bit faster than GM's driver. How to account for 12s time difference?

  22. Ferrari: media manipulations, estra-hp and race-tyres (this is the funniest part)
Lambo, Nissan, Porsche, BMW, Ford, Mercedes.............. Dacia, Lada, Yugo.....: correction factors, unable drivers, weather....

  23. mafalda, do you consider adjusting tire pressures like Ferrari did for the Scuderia in Evo's test to be cheating?

  24. On the Supersprint website there are a lot of corrected dynos. There is a SAE corrected 470.3 PS GT-R that gain just 13.5 PS with a lower temperature of 15C, 1003hPa and humidity 31% without correction. That means a gain of 2.8%, the difference with the new engine is the 8.5%.

Auto Italian magazine tested a powerful GT-R on the same dyno. So, slower cars are also produced by Nissan. This car achieved SAE corrected 489.6 PS that day. The air was hot, 34C in the intake, 977hPa and humidity of 55%. It lost 27.3 PS from the engine power verified to the corrected figure. It's something like the 6% of lost power by the hot test room condition.

It seems the GT-R may fluctuated its power by approximately a 8% from a very hot temperature of 34C to lower 15C. Again, the difference with the new engine is the 8.5%.

What happened the two days? The conditions were both favourable, but infinitesimally little difference for considerable engine power. At the fact, the 2009 run was little bit slower on the DH straight. The power seems greater than the claimed. It seems not to be the same power of the newer car, but it seems not so far.
