2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray Official Specs: 455 HP, 460 Lb-Ff of Torque As the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray’s production gets underway, the American automaker has finally released final specifications on its newest sports car. Powered by an all-new 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine, the 2014 Corvette Stingray’s final figures have been announced with 455 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Its seven-speed manual transmission will have a final drive ratio of 3.42. The performance is a bit more than what was originally estimated: 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. You’ll note in some of the specifications, the estimated (est.) is still found next to the numbers, but it appears that the American automaker hasn’t updated those files yet. A formal press release wasn’t released by Chevrolet, but these PDFs surfaced on its media site. http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2013/05/2014-chevy-corvette-stingray-official-specs-455-hp-460-lb-ff-of-torque.html
http://m.autoblog.com/2013/04/29/gm-applies-for-lt5-ltx-trademarks-are-new-small-block-varian/ "Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum ? which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images ? believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1. Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu ? in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp. The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX."
2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray: 0-60 MPH in 3.8 Seconds Chevrolet has released performance estimates for its latest Corvette, claiming that the car will hit 60 mph from a stand still in 3.8 seconds flat when equipped with the Z51 performance package. Once the car hits 60 mph, Chevy says that the Stingray will take 107 feet to get back to stand still. For those interested in taking the 455-hp American sports car to the drag strip, the automaker claims that Corvette Stingray will run the quarter mile in 12 seconds and hit a top speed of 119 mph on the way. To make sure that the Corvette gets real track-ready credentials, Chevy took the car to Virginia International Raceway’s (VIR) 4.2-mile grand course, where it laid down a solid time of 2:51.78, and managed to pull 1.03 gs while cornering. That puts this car just ahead of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggara, which clocked a 2:51.80 at VIR, and just behind a Ferrari 458 Italia, which holds a 2:49.90 lap time according to Fastestlaps.com. The car that made the VIR run was equipped with the Z51 performance package as well as the brand’s magnetic ride control suspension setup. Once the $2,800 performance package and $1,795 magnetic ride control suspension were added to the car, it brings the total MSRP to $56,590; about a quarter of the price of the two exotics it kept up with at VIR. The performance package adds go-fast goodies like an electronic limited-slip differential, individual differential and transmission cooling as well as an aerodynamics package that further improves high-speed stability. It also comes with a dry-sump oiling system and integral brake. http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2013/06/2014-chevy-corvette-stingray-0-60-mph-in-3-8-seconds.html
