2015 Porsche 911 Targa Leaked Ahead of Detroit Debut

Like clockwork, photos of cars that will debut at next week’s Detroit Auto Show are slipping out, and the latest is the Porsche 911 Targa.

Porsche offered the first 911 Targa model back in 1965, and this new car adopts the same design and function as that car. A small removable roof section is fitted to Targa models along with a large wrap-around rear window. A huge “Targa bar,” better known as a large b-pillar runs through the middle of the car from one side to the other to complete the look and offer structural enhancement.

Mechanically, the car is rumored to feature two different powerplants, either a 3.4-liter flat six that makes 350 hp or a larger 3.6-liter flat six which develops 400 hp. The smaller engine will be fitted to the standard car while the larger will be for the 911 Targa S model.

  2. excellent. the 996/997 targa roofs were a #%!@ when they broke.
  3. ive never liked the look of 911 targas
    this is no exception
  4. it's not the same roofline as the coupe is it
  6. Finally a real targa again.
  8. Theres a tiny bit of 918 Spyder in the profile. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
  9. I love the 911 Targas, this looks awesome, imo.
  10. What!! Thats #$%#ing hot! This was the 911 I was most looking forward to seeing. I was really excited to hear that it would be a fully removable piece again. Rather than a giant sunroof

  11. looks better than the previous targas, good job porsche
  13. i like when the roof is glass!
    i like it alot
  14. the giant sunroof is a #%!@ ... its nice when its down except you can't see out the back really at all
  15. YES!!!!!!

I was super hoping that would be an option. How #$%#ing cool is that!

The wraparound rear window looks kinda C5 Corvette but I can't see a way around that.

Amazing. Best looking daily drive Porsche in the line up currently.
  16. I have a serious hatred for the person that designed that and the person who allowed it to make production.

You can see the roof mechanism in this video, looks weird.

  18. Holy shit, it's a cloth, mechanically retractable roof!?????

I thought it was a glass panel for sure.

Also, looks hella sexy in black. Reminds me so much of Steve McQueens in LeMans

    looks AMAZING.

before I saw that I was slightly indifferent, leaning towards "that's pretty cool" status, but now it's firmly in the "I want it" status.
