'59 250 GT California Spider sells for $3mil

  1. Just got back from Gooding & Co for the second time where they just sold the 1959 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider for $3mil. Open headlight and yellow, which are both serious negatives IMO. Still cool.

  2. The Ferrari 250 GT California Spider is probably the best looking Ferrari ever made.

  3. How am I supposed to buy a car when I grow up? They'll be 500 million by that time <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/sad.gif"></A>

Very beautifull car though. And I agree on it not being the 'best' type Cali Spider.

  4. For me, it's closed headlights by a mile. And preferably in some red or a dark color.

  5. i preffer mine in SWB with covered headlights in dark blue with bordeaux interior

  6. spot on <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A> and with a hardtop for when it's bad weather <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/grin.gif"></A>

  8. Stunning, but yeah, the closed headlight version is even more gorgeous.

  9. i love it... stuff the "oh it has to be red" i reckon it looks amazing

  10. I think it looks great in yellow. I'm sure it looks beautiful in any color though.

  11. people say that muscle cars are way overvalued, but personally, I think ferraris are 100 times worse. if you have a ferrari built before like 1965 its pretty much guarenteed to land ya a mil+, if you have a racecar from any time, even if it got its ass kicked, itll be worth 5x the competitions.

  12. I prefer mine with open headlights swb ,red over black.

  15. Dude, there were like 6 of them ever made.

  16. eurh, no
    try these numbers
    from 1958-60 they made 41 steel & 9 aluminum LWB's
    & from 1960-60 51 steel & 3 aluminum SWB's
    so a total of 104
and they are all drop dead gorgeous

  17. and i'm also crazy about this colour

  18. reminds me
RM has 2 Cali Spiders up for sale at their Legenda e Passione auction later this year <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/grin.gif"></A>

  21. I'm a little confused... Gooding & Co is now saying $3.3m, but obviously I was there and as you can see from the photo, it ended at $3.0m. Maybe that includes fees or something.

  22. I don't like the fit and finish of the car, neither the better than new paint. Its a shame that my sons will never see a un-buthechered one

  23. what you saw & heard was hammer price, that does not include buyers premium, so that's US$3,3mil and then the new owner has to pay for shipping & in some cases taxes aswell
