7-speed transmission?!

Discussion in '1985 Ferrari Testarossa' started by Oliver Peck, Aug 9, 2002.

  1. The Testarossa's 5-speed transmission allows 180 mph when going forward. However, that's not the end of the story. It also has two reverse gears inabling it to accomplish 60 mph backwards! Ya!

  2. Re: 7-speed transmission?!

No way does it have 2 reverse gears. Unless there's something I wasn't told (like the 2 gears are combined into one or something and it shifts through them automatically, but I doubt it). My uncle has a Testarossa and it has 5 speeds and 1 reverse speed in the gearbox.<!-- Signature -->

Perhaps your right. Your uncle should know. It's just one of the many things I've read about Ferraris. Maybe I'm thinking of the 512TR or the 512M... or maybe I'm just full of B/S. lol. I don't know. I have been wrong before.

  4. Re: 7-speed transmission?!

Why would there be two reverse gears? That makes no sense.

  6. Re: 7-speed transmission?!

The guy was questioning why there were 7 possible gears on the spec sheet... I figure its allowing for F1 cars which have 7 gears sometimes. duh
