A friend of mine used to have one

1. Way to expensive to have a car like this, if you have trouble with it the parts etc. are a bit over-priced :(

that's why my friend sold it again

2. Re: A friend of mine used to have one

the v6 had too heavy of an engine. . it messed up the suspension a bunch. . . the only good fiero is a turbo 4 cylinder. . . . . they were made through the factory. . . .but only a few very very rare ones. . man. . that would kick butt. . .the power of a v6, with the wieght and balance of the 2.5 litre 4. . .

Some guy at my school has one like this. It has a few mods to it. Looks pretty good.

5. Re: A friend of mine used to have one

My friend also had one of these. The engine needs a rebuild now, it doesn't run and it has 105,000 miles on it.

6. Re: A friend of mine used to have one

105k? Wow what terrible quality.

7. Re: A friend of mine used to have one

my friend have a SE...... and he can have a lot of car on the start when he race.... but when you arrive in the 4th gear forget that...... this one is white with rims and a spoiler..... it's a 84.. and he could sell it for 4000$(canadian) so this car is "tufff"
with 1000$ he fix all his car..... all the pieces ... i think it's old but it kicks ass!

8. Re: A friend of mine used to have one

The V6 is the more reliable engine compared to the 4 banger. My friend has 310,000 miles on his 2.8 and it's never been rebuilt, orginal clutch, original everything.

HOW'S THAT FOR RELIABLE? (I'd like to see a Toyota MR2 do that.)

That engine is the same in the infamous Chevy Eurosports, that broke down alot before 50K. Explanation???

Pontiac has mastered the cylinder head (unlike chevy and caddy). The Fiero V6 uses chevy's famous V6/60 degree block, but not their crappy cylinder heads. Pontiac uses their own head and intake. Pontiac's V6/90 degree heads are great as well. Nascar uses them.

And the tranny?
The 88' 5-Speed is made by Muncie. Getrag is the name of the tranny or something, but the long and short...

IT'S GERMAN ENGINEERED!!!
Izuzu had two trannys in the earlier years, but muncie got it right after their crappy 86' tranny.

And finnally, there is hope for those who want the v6's power with the 4banger's weight.

Supposedly there is a kit from 1987 that upgrades the 4Tech from a 2.5 Liter OHV to a 16V DOHC 3.0Liter 4 Cylinder.

A.K.A. going from
96HP/140LbsTorque
to
270HP/255LbsTorque.

And according to my calculations, this engine with 4 inch pistons, adjusted stroke, ported heads, DOHC, 16 valves, turbo, intercooler, nitrous, supercharger, proper oiling, and 8 injectors, you could get...

over 800 HP!!! (I'd like to see a Honda Civic do that)
now, if you want 850, you're talking stricktly drag racing, but you could get 700 street legal (and safe) HP.

Enough of my blabbering. Go buy one and try it. See if you can give this pony some wings. (The fiero symbol is pegasus, the winged horse, incase you didn't know that.)

Much luv to NYC

Show your calculations. In all of my posts were I do "calculations" I show the math I've done and tell why I'm doing it. I also want to know what engineering manuals you got the formulas from. Finally, I want to race you.

Sounds like a new friggin engine to me. Also, it sounds to me like you know very little about modifying cars and simply made a list of "things fast cars have" and "proper oiling" what the hell does that mean? Also, twin charging a car is very hard and complicated to do and isn't exactly reliable.

Delorean, quit being such an asshole. Some (Most) of us probably think Deloreans blow (speaking of blow, Mr. Delorean WAS a coke-head), but we don't give you a hard time because "one man's shit is another's treasure" or something like that.

16. Re: A friend of mine used to have one

They came out with a 5spd in late 86. Who gives a rats ass about Horsepowere as much as they should about Torque. No 4 banger has torque. The V6 had as much as 180 lbs/ft of torque. Try that with any 140 hp 4 banger.

17. Re: A friend of mine used to have one

You should get one too then! I like mine too! It a nice litte car......even has the 5 speed gear box that the guy said they didn't have. It will outrun any stock mr2. Ofcourse if the engine was charged like Emmartooguy's it would fly past his as well. I'm not going to do that though. I'll let cars like my grandfather's Ferrari F550 kick his pathetic car.....lol.....he'd really be my termagent then. NEways, any1 wanting a fun little car to coast around in should really consider an mr2 or fiero. (mr2's arent as pretty as fiero's though+ plus toyota's parts cost more. SE's not GT's) This cars got alot of potental too. Just ad rims and paint and you've got nice ride. Ofcourse lots of other things can be done, but...
O by the way, many ppl refer to this car as a piece of crap. Do you know why? The first pictures why. Mine is the second one . Have fun with them.
17 year olds humble advice.
