A new direction for Porsche

  1. Finally Porsche is starting to break away from the same looking cars it has been rolling off the line since the 60's. Something new.
  2. Nothing too new, if you ask me. Just a remade Boxster in coupe form. They made this and then made the new 911 look more classic. Don't really see too much development, if you ask me. They are making the new Panamerica now, but that really looks nothing more than a crossover between the Carrera GT and the Mercedes-Benz CLS-class. It's supposed to come with a V8 so I'm assuming that it'll probably be like an upgraded version of the one from the Cayenne Turbo or something.
  3. Basically just a coupe version of the boxter. Though it is smaller and more nimble, Porsche seems to be trying its best to cover the market spread. So far from test results of the Cayman, they seem to be doing pretty good. It will be interesting to see how the masses accept this car, and how well it sells. Only time will tell...
  4. i like it!!!!

by the way, has anyone seen the new upcoming 928?

if youre a porsche fan, take my word for it that the car's a killer <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>
  5. Aside from that fact that the car HAS to look different to be a different model, I certainly don't see the Cayman as a "new direction" for Porsche in regards to styling. Not that that's a bad thing-I hated it when they decided to build the Cayenne.
  6. they should've given the cayman circular headlights
  7. no the 911 Carrera Gt was a new direction. If the 911 was North, and Boxter was west, then the Cayman is Northwest.
  8. Looks like a boxter with some mods
  9. new direction?! what?? how is this in any way at all new? its a frigging boxster with a roof!!
  10. I like this car. Has the best of both worlds in design and performance. Although it would look better with the 997 headlights. It would just finish it off better. It kinda has the 996 look. Not bad, the the circular lights would look better. And it would be nice to have the turbo option. It would be worth stealing you know.
  11. Sure, it's a boxter with a roof. But that gives it a whole new line entirely. Makes it stiffer, too. Excellence mag has tested it as being faster than a 911 around a few short pool-tables. New direction? Not quite... Just onward and upward as usual.
  12. I think it looks fantastic.

    And I'm always right.
  13. True, the Carrera GT was a new direction...sort of. It was really a scrapped Le Mans project that was seen as potential for a production car. That kinda killed it for me since it makes it seem like they're throwing out to the world something that's an advanced piece of their trash or something. Not that it matters since it's such an awesome car. Carrera GT over Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren any day.
  14. It's not new but an absolutely fascinating and great looking interpretation of the classic Porsche design. The headlights are a bit out of tradition but close to the Carrera GT. I like especially the back, a central element of the 911 idea. This one consists of three lines, the middle one very long and with low gradient, the other two gently swinging from the doors over the tires until they join and form the back. That looks very female, like a nice butt. The front is less spectacular and does not differ much from the Boxster's. If I had the money to buy a Porsche, I would buy this one. It's a bit disappointing, that this car only seems to be meant to fill a gap between the Boxter and the 911. So, instead of buying a 911, I would rather have some work done on this one, maybe a stiffer suspension, better breaks, some additional hp.
  15. nice info about the "butt", this car is very similar to the others, but who would think that after all this time porche would finnally want to start changing thier look. I agree to what ur saying...partially..<A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
  16. There is a Cayman in my garage. Not mine sadly, it's my dad's car first porsche. Artic silver stock wheels, 6 speed manual. It drives awesome and has much more space than you would expect for room and cargo. We easily can fit two golfbags in the back. The shape, especially from the back is not justified by photos it looks much, much better in person.
It also outruns the 911 around Nurunberg. It has the potential to be better than the 911 because of the mid engined lay out but if porsche mad it any faster no one would buy a 911!
  17. nice, i think this is the best so far from porche
  18. Moving in a new direction for the best.
  19. Hopefully <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
  20. It's gotta be closer to 70 grand with options though, and it'd be nice to invest a little on a bit more power.
