Whoa. Lets not get ahead of ourself here. Yeah its an F-bod killer, I would expect to win a race against the Z06 in this, nor would I want to take on the Viper in this.<!-- Signature -->

IF your going to compare a ford to the Z06 make it the GT40 ... I am thinking its going to handle nice and kill it on the 1/4<!-- Signature -->

  3. Listen, GM created a corvette ZO6 for this day and this day only. A ZO6 could race this thing in reverse and kick it's little pansy ass! So what the F-body is gone. . .Did you ignorant Ford fans know that GM has already started redesigning the F-body to come back as a stronger, faster, more-reliable, all around sports car. Seriously, I bet this Mustang would handle great with some of Ford's famous Firestone tires!<!-- Signature -->

How is it an unarguable fact? Like I told ffattack, these last two generation of Camaros were the shortest.

2nd Generation Camaros lasted 11 years. 3rd generation Camaros lasted 10 years. 4th generation lasted 3-4 years. 5th & Final generation Camaros lasted 4-5 years.

In the last two generations the Camaro went under a complete redesign and facelifts and underhood changes, but guess what? It still could not save the Camaro. GM has DISCONTINUED the Camaro.

Oh yeah KraZ28, don't forget to upload those pictures of your modified Z28 soon <IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif"><!-- Signature -->

okay, KRAZ@8...hang on. though i don't doubt for a second, like some, that the camaro will be back and probably will be better looking when it returns, there is nothing in that link you provided to suggest that it is definite in any form yet. as for the "sportier" look, the article was referencing future gm "mid-size" cars, not the camaro. i do think it will have a better look (but, so will the mustang), but just because the word "sportier" happened to appear in the same sentence as the word "camaro" did not mean that the camaro would be "sportier". they were talking about new upcoming cars similar to the malibu and just happened to add it into the sentence discussing the camaro. it's all in context...read carefully. anyway, just know i agree with you on the fact the camaro will return. i'm sure it will...but what everyone else is saying (about the fact that it is not official) is indeed the only truth right now.

Yes, thats right, I will continue to talk trash to you. All that cheesy little article says is "Expect GM to revive the Camaro/Firebird and introduce new sportier mid-size models during the 2005-2010 timeframe." That mentions nothing about what the nameplate will become. 2005-2010 is a very vague timeline. It seems like all of you F-Body boys are still very much in the dark reguaring your future. At least we know what is in store for us starting in 2004, and we have pictures to prove it.<!-- Signature -->

GM execs swore a couple years ago that the demise of the camaro was exaggerated and completely untrue, so there you go, they're lying again. And I think everyone else beat that article into the ground.

Dont expect FORD to win any races with this piece. All you guys seem to see is the horse power which is impressive for a stang but look at the weight- almost 3700 lbs...HOLY SHIT! my dads 69 GTX with iron heads block and everything else weighs 50 pounds less. No bull shit what Fomoco needs to do is bild a Cobra R with a aluminum 5.4 with 11-1 compresion in the 350 horse range but slice the weight down to under 3100 pounds then they would have something. For comparison my 70 Dodge Dart which is roughly the same size wieghs 3000lbs and thats still with an iron engine and a eight point cage! <!-- Signature -->

That weight is for the ragtop, the coupe is probably lighter. This car is gonna be a mid to low 4 sec 0-60 car and mid 12 sec qauter mile car. And it's gonna handle like a dream also, lets see your dads gtx do all of that. Not that its a bad car, its probably pretty sweet, but you have to admit this cobra is one hell of a car also!

  15. Re: All FORD fans are still Fu#%ed On Race Day

Your right my dads GTX will run mid thirteens in the 1/4 thats on the factory 6 inch wide tires. Im just stateing that the weight of some of these new cars is getting out of hand. for all the materials they have comparied to 30 years ago they should be able to build them alot lighter.<!-- Signature -->

Here's another comparison... the Nissan Skyline R-34, weighs more than this 03 Cobra Convertible. The 2001 Viper RT/10 is fairly close to this weight as well.

One final comparison as well, the 01 Cobra, running close to the same weight with 70 less ponies, did 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.

70 more ponies (Or if you would rather take the dyno results over SuperCar's stats, 100 more ponies), some added weight from the new blower and intercooler system and change out to iron block eight cylinder (All in all, only about 200 lbs more than 01 model). You still think we won't win any races in this?

Don't forget nearly every racer out there doesn't leave his car stock, see my tuning thread. 674 HP 03 Cobra, think that wouldn't win any races?<!-- Signature -->

  17. Re: All FORD fans are still Fu#%ed On Race Day

Yeh I cant explain the Skyline it seems to bend physics. But Ford could easily produce a V8 mustang Coupe under 3000 pounds if they wanted to. I found some interesting facts on Fords V8's in a Stang mag

    221/260/289/302 = 460lbs
    Boss 302 = 500lbs
    351 Windsor = 525lbs
    351 Cleveland = 550lbs
    351/400mod = 575lbs
    427 Sohc(cammer) = 680lbs
    390/427/FE blocks = 625lbs
    429/460 385series = 720lbs
    Boss 429 = 635lbs
    4.6l SOHC = 600lbs
    4.6l DOHC = 576lbs

Ford should'a, could'a built a modular 4.6-5.4 at least as light as the all iron 302 which weigh's over 100lbs lighter.<!-- Signature -->

Yeah, 4.6=281ci. Mo Mopar had weights for all the past V8s, except our new one, and I was wondering what it weighed.

  24. Re: All FORD fans are still Fu#%ed On Race Day

not that i don't like the zo6 or viper, buy u guys are talking about two cars that cost in excess of 20-40 thousand more dollars than the new cobra...back off everybody. i always come into these forums seeing everyone with their biased opions towards (chevy, ford, dodge, imports/domestics). each and every car has its pros and cons u can't just go around and say oh my SS will kill your little POS import when that little POS import is a TTsupra...i have no biased opinions about any type of car..it all comes to the specs in the end anyways..so how about all u little babies out there quit crying and just be a LITTLE more open-minded..
    my twocents..
