I dunno, I don't really know much about boxing other than what you can gain by watching it on TV. Anything I should do in preparation before I start, or is it just a jump in with both feet and get going kind of thing?
crap all you need is cardio cardio cardio do alot of jumproping also when you punch twist your fist (theyll tell u how) steve
wcw is your source for hands. I've got elbows, knees and kicks covered. Start doing lots of skipping, and fast pushups. Practice keeping your guard up, as that's probably the most difficult thing for a beginner. It only uses a couple of small muscles and is really fatiguing when you start.
you'll be doing a lot of conditioning and training before you spar. those 16 oz gloves get really heavy after throwing punches for a few minutes. boxing workouts are the best.
16oz training gloves ftw. Definitely don't jump into sparring, you'll: a) get your ass kicked b) get frustrated c) continue to throw poor technique
Hmmm, well my cardio is pretty good insofar as running goes. Sounds like I'll need to step it up a bit though.
No guffaw? <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/sad.gif"></A> But I thought all military personnel had to do boxing when they started? How's the training going? Are you flying 'alone' yet?
WCW is going take you down. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
No, officers don't have to do anything mandatory after basic, but if you let yourself go enough to fail your yearly V2-Max test, they give you the option of either sending you to RFT (fat camp), which is basically 8 hours of cardio a day for 6 weeks, or a voluntary release from the forces. So it's best not to let yourself go.
pffft. I can run farther and faster than anyone here on these boards who doesn't happen to be training for some kind of marathon.
