Bang for the buck

  1. I definately think that the mosler mt900 photon is the best supercar you can buy for the least amount of money. This gets the bang-for-the-buck award. I love how this car kills million dollar euro supercars in many aspects, and it has a vette engine. The only problem with this car(if it has any) is the top speed which is hampered by downforce(the main key to the car's increadible handling).

  2. Re: Bang for the buck

How much does it cost then?

  3. Re: Bang for the buck

    They start at $160,000.

i understand your facination. but why not 'kill' exotics in a Noble M400 for much less.
    Noble M400 -
    Engine: 3.0 V6
    Power: 425Bhp @ 6500RPM
    Torque: 390ft lbs @ 5000RPM
    Weight: 1030Kg (no A/C)
    0-100Kmh: 3.5s
    Top speed: 298Kph
    Price: £62,548

  5. What does this car kill? Its sure cant beat a Carrera GT, Murcielago, Enzo, nor the Ford GT. There are many other cars that you can by for much less that would own this like own say the Dodge Viper SRT-10 if you know how to drive it well. This doesnt kill any million dollar supercars because then it would kill the Mclaren F1 and the Murcedes benz CLK-GTR. This car isnt all that powerful because 405bhp compared to the Lamborghini Murcielago and Carrera GT this car doesnt stand a chance in hell compared to there numbers. Unless you want to compare this to the Ferrari 360 modena(not a real deal supercar) this shouldnt even be called the best bang for the buck deal! however that should go to the Ford GT which would own this car in every aspect.

  6. This car could beat a Murcielago, Ford GT, Viper, or a McLaren F1.

  7. Yeah, the M400 has similar performance for a lot less money than the Photon.

  8. This car couldnt beat a Murcielago ,Ford GT, yes i can belive a viper and for the Mclaren F1 nope it doesnt stand a chance.

This car cant even hit 200mph nor it will not match the 0-60 time on those cars either. However I will not douht if you have a good driver than anything is possble but in performance this car cant beat those ones you listed.

  9. It doesn't need to hit 200mph to beat those cars. And its acceleration is more than enough to stay competitive. Oh, and did I meantion the handling and braking performance of the MT900? It shouldn't have much of a problem sticking with those other cars on the track.

  10. If it doesnt have the Topspeed to beat those cars then its not faster than any of them. It will indeed stick with them but if you want to test them in a overall test then most likely the Lamborghini would be faster than the Mosler and more powerful as well. The Handling is just about the same on all the cars. I have no idea on the braking.

  11. There aren't many tracks where this car would need more top end, but even on those tracks, this car would be so much faster than a Lamborghini on most portions of the track, that the Lamborghin's top end advantage wouldn't be nearly enough to compensate for the Mosler's advantages.

  12. Show me a road course that will support cars like Lamborghini going over 160mph.

    Go ahead. I dare you...

  13. The Lemans Race track. I have heard of the Ford GT40 hitting over 200mph on that track. But i will douht the fact that the mosler has some avantage over just about any supercar and that is weight. I belive this is a toss up because there both just about the same.

  14. First of all, where do you see the similarities of a GT40 race car and a Lamborghini Murcielago?

Second, a chicane has been constructed on the Mulsanne straight since the days of the GT40. Hell, even race-modded sports cars like the McLaren F1 GTR couldn't break 200mph before hitting the chicane -- and it's 40 years worth of advancement in technology to help it.

  15. Well im just going off from the time were the GT40 did top out at 200mph. there are other cars that also did break 200mph at that track alone like oh say the audi R8.

Well i know that but the Mclaren F1 was an exception because theres no way of slowing it down at such a high speeds and such. But you are right on it though.

  16. Lemans is a unique course, and most teams setup for it differently, ie low downforce/high speed configurations.

  17. "Well im just going off from the time were the GT40 did top out at 200mph. there are other cars that also did break 200mph at that track alone like oh say the audi R8."

I find it needless to say that the R8 and other racing prototypes aren't road cars.

    = = = = = =

"Well i know that but the Mclaren F1 was an exception because theres no way of slowing it down at such a high speeds and such. But you are right on it though."

That's exactly my point. If a car can't accelerate to 160mph on a given straight and then decelerate back down in the distance of the straight, then what is the point of having a top speed over 200+mph?

The Carrera GT, Enzo Ferrari, Ford GT, Viper SRT-10, Lamborghini Murcielago...all will get eaten alive by the Photon that Motor Trend tested last year.

  18. They wouldnt get killed by a mosler this car couldnt even out perform a standard Viper SRT-10. The car you have listed are almost superior to the mosler in many was beside topspeed like the Enzo can beat it in 0-60 as well as the other cars. The only aspect the mosler wins at is in the 1/4mile. Thats about it.

Dont you know anything? Click here numbnuts and then tell me if a Mosler can't beat an Enzo...

    http://www.motortrend.com/features/scenes/112_0306_spdtest/

    0-60: 3.13sec
    1/4 mile: 11.02sec @ 126.88mph
    60-0: 100ft
    0-100: 7.17sec
    100-0: 3.87sec
    1 mile: 30.4sec @ 154.3mph
    Slalom: 74.7mph
    Figure 8: 23.3sec @ 0.90G average
    Skidpad: 1.14G

Can your "superior" cars beat that?

  20. Eh? Tell ya what, you bring the SRT-10 <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
