I have seen that all of you guys have underestimatied Juan Pablo Montoya. He was the only driver this year that caused Shumi some trouble . It is obvious that Ferrari this year has no match .

    1.Juan Pablo Montoya
    2.Michael Shumacher
    3.Rubens Barichello
    4.Kimi Raikonnen
    Jenson Button
    -etc-

  5. Re: Best drivers in F1, Now.

No, the press overestimates JPM on account of his ability in qualifying, under race conditions he's been found wanting.

  6. Re: Best drivers in F1, Now.

i see u have underestimated kimi raikkonen as well. In my opinion raikkonen is the best of the rest other than schumi. JPM was definately not the only driver to cause schumi trouble. well maybe in qualifying but other than that coulthard was the only driver to beat schumi. Ralf doesnt count in malaysia because schumi was at the end of the grid charging back up to the top. Raikkonen also came close to beating schumi at france. JPM is too agressive and that causes him to get into trouble at times. hungary was a great example. He knew kimi had the faster car yet he still tried to keep him behind and resulting in recking his car even more. Same with when coulthard was trying to past him. i cant remember which gp it was but JPM tires were completely worn out. On the first corner when coulthard was on the outside, there wasnt enough room for JPM to stay ahead of coulthard but he squeezed his way in. Bouncing over the kerb and sliding into coulthard when instead both of them could have finished the race and scored some points. Kimi raikkonen will become the best driver in F1 if he continues to improve at the rate he is improving now. I think all of his DNF's were due to engine failures. Germany didnt count because his car was already damaged due to the flat tire he had. The car became impossible to drive and he spun out.

    For me... (top 5)

    MS
    RA
    RS
    KR
    JPR

Oh, and look out for Mark Webber...him in Jaguar next year will see him possibly on the podium in a couple of races...judging by his 5th at his 1st F1 race in Melbourne (my home town) he has a lot of potential - possibly a future champion..its about time that Us Aussies had a Driver back in again in the most prestiguous motor racing scene in the world!

  14. Re: Best drivers in F1, Now.

    Consider this statistic:

Only podium place by non Ferrari/McLaren/Williams in 2002:

    Eddie Irvine in a Jaguar.

  15. Re: Best drivers in F1, Now.

Also in 2001 there were two podium places non-Ferrari/McLaren/Williams. Eddie Irvine (Jaguar) in Monaco and Jacques Villeneuve (BAR) in Barcelona.

  16. Re: Best drivers in F1, Now.

I think Villeneuve finished on the podium at Hockenheim becuase that's where he nearly went A over T off the front of the podium when they started to spray the champagne. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

I guess he missed the days when he was in the podium more consistently.<A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
