Based out of Britain, their debut album was Pablo Honey, which consisted of pretty generic alternative/rock. It is by far my least favorite of all of Radiohead's albums, but it featured the single "Creep" which, after all these years, is still the most commercially successful single released by Radiohead.
Next came The Bends, which was still a rather generic alternative album, yet it was far more developed and one can sense the beginning of experimental rock for the band.
Radiohead then went on to release probably their most succesful and well known album, OK Computer. Seen by many to be the best album of the 90s (or of all time), Radiohead's experimentation is very apparent in most of the songs and many were inspired by other artists such as The Beatles and Bob Dylan. The album eventually went double platinum.
Kid A, my favorite album by the band, was released after OK Computer on Oct 2, 2000 (my birthday!). Not one song or music video was released from the album, yet it debuted at #1 on U.S. charts and went platinum within a month. This album, certainly the most unique of Radiohead's so far, showed experimentation with electronic style music as well as jazz. It deviated far from the generic guitar rock of it's preceeding albums. What grabs me on this album is how eerie and depressing it is, which is certainly the motif that attracts me to Radiohead's music. As a concept album, it contains a general theme/plot, yet I'm absolutely #$%#ing puzzled about it. (I have certain inferences about the themes, but I won't get into that). Another unique part about this album was the release of "blips" onto the internet and (I think) onto MTV or other T.V. stations. These blips were very short video sequences played to music from Kid A. I've provided some youtube links below...
After Kid A came Amnesiac, another favorite of mine. Amnesiac wasn't nearly as successful as Kid A, and was criticized for it's lack of coherence between it's songs, although I believe a true fan can certainly relate them. Although still experimenting with jazz and electronic sounds, Radiohead showed a slight return to the guitar and this album was pleasing both for lovers of Kid A and lovers of their earlier albums. I certainly believe this album is more approachable than Kid A. It is related to Kid A, however, and contained the same theme as their earlier album. Thom Yorke (lead singer and writer) said "something traumatic is happening in Kid A, and this is looking back at it". Gangster as hell.
The latest album released is Hail To The Theif from 2003. It again features a stronger mix of guitar and electronic style music, a genre that I predict will stay as Radiohead's style. According to critics, this album is nothing special, though I love it more than OK Computer... Thom Yorke also was not very satisfied with it, saying that of all the albums he'd "want to make the most changes to Hail to the Theif after release".

  2. Aerosmith

  3. Aerosmith will rape every other band in the BOTB.

  4. I voted for Depeche Mode, because that's the band I like most of these after Radiohead - which I figure will get enough votes to advance

  5. I'll be back later to upload Radiohead...

  6. I'd upload some of their albums, but for some reason none of the albums I have are on my computer. I have a whole album of remixes of their songs if you want that though.

  7. Radiohead by far

  8. At home I'm currently yousenditing singles 81-85 =) I still need to rip their Exciter-album, which is SO good

  9. Radiohead. Duh.

  11. I don't even remember which albums I have aside from the new one, I've got several.

  12. This was a hard one, but...

Aerosmith for sure, followed pretty closely by Radiohead.

    Aerosmith albums on the way...

  13. What a round this one is. Please more people get Depeche Mode to the 2nd wave.

  14. Ahhh, you put Sublime in round 1 against Radiohead.. damn.
    I'm pretty sure they wouldn't get very far, but to kill them off in round 1 is sad <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/sad.gif"></A> <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/sad.gif"></A>

  15. They're just one vote away from advancing (3rd place), so it's not like they're BOOMHEADSHOTDEAD yet. =)

That said, same goes for depeche mode <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/angry.gif"></A> which I want to advance too, haha

  16. I had to vote Radiohead over Sublime/Depeche Mode also <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/sad.gif"></A> <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/sad.gif"></A>

  17. I can't edit my post, but I meant to say that you voted Depeche Mode, and to disregard me saying "also".

    Blah. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/sad.gif"></A> <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/sad.gif"></A>
