1. I'm here at work, looking how I should do the system =) Just like last time, I probably can't wait until the first 2 rounds are over though.
2. Where'd the gen chat thread go?

Can't wait btw.
3. Got unstickied and renamed, it's still on the first page
4. Alright, as things stand, it will go as follows:

Round 1: 85 Polls will be made with generally 8 options. The best 3 per poll (255 bands total) will advance to Round 2. Scheduled time for this: 3 weeks.

Round 2: 31 Polls with 8 options and 1 with 7 options will be made. The best 2 bands per poll will advance to the head-to-head-64 phase. Scheduled time for this: 1-1.5 week.

Head-to-head 64: 32 polls with 2 options.

Head-to-head 32: etc.

The start of the BOTB - Head-to-head-64 will take my place in my forum to spare general chat the mess of 148 polls.

Head-to-head-32 - Finals take place in General Chat (31 polls)

So basically, after 179 polls, we'll know what's favourite band/act is. Finals are planned in May 2074. But realistically.. December 2006-January 2007 about is realistic too.

For the first 3 phases, bands are selected by pure unalduterated random.
5. you should get free premium subscription for all the stuff u do. BOTB, MooTron, Island Of Death, etc.
6. I'll consider it
7. So, this is just my take... But breaking it down into the head to heads at so many options could be kind of whack. I mean how are you going to choose what goes against what? If you put the 2 best bands (Beatles & Led Zeppelin we'll say) against each other, then the Beatles win. All the other polls after that will be obvious that the Beatles will win. Are you just intentionally going to rig it so there aren't any situations like that or what?

8. I'm not going to do anything, and things turned out pretty unexpected the previous time. The rolling stones and CCR really went 51/49'ish in the quarterfinals. Black sabbath nearly has beaten the Beatles as well, it could go all ways.

10. wait, how come u never put up the suggestions i made in the general forum thread?

Temple Of The Dog
Mother Love Bone
John Butler Trio
11. ..added lol
12. Missed Everclear & Everlast, but #$%#k it this list is massive already.
13. #$%# it, I'm compiling the polls already haha, put the first 300 acts in polls already and roughly 400 to go. I'm so active at work..
14. 425 acts filed now..
15. 626.. and done =)
16. Alright, before I kick off with the polls, just a few things.

- please do not vote twice, I know the majority of regulars have second accounts, and I'd kindly like to ask you guys not to use them.

- share information! if you have factual information about the bands in question, I'll include this in the first post of the poll. Think of album/single sales, location, billboard rankings, woodstock experience, quirkies, it'll all do. Youtube links will be included in the first post as well if you mention them.

- have fun and don't #%[email protected] at me for how many awesome bands you like are in the same bloody poll. there is no fair way with just a maximum of 9 options. Of course I'd rather have a system with 626 options, but it doesn't exist, so there. and honestly, it's actually only nice to have a dilemma every now and then.
17. I'd also like to draw your attention considering the BOTB MEMBER COMPETITION. In the polls, there's also the freedom to .rar/.mp3/.whatever music of the acts in question. For every song uploaded you get one BOTB point, for every album uploaded, you get the number of songs on it in BOTB points. Whoever collected most, is the BOTB GOLDMEMBER 2006-2007. Runner-up and number 3 will be SILVERMEMBER and BRONZEMEMBER.

So much for encouragement lol. Rankings will be held in this thread, which is the official BOTB thread from now on.
18. Check, check, aaaaaaaand check.

So will you be giving us a heads up on who's in the next polls to upload music or will we just upload when we see the poll is up and then have you edit your first post whenever you get around to it? Just asking b/c maybe someone will vote early for a band and then 5 hours later a person uploads something/writes something that makes the memeber who already voted go #$%#, I wish I would've voted otherwise. Just brainstormin for ya Mr. Squad
19. This is actually a good idea to put up 2 days prior what the polls are going to be.. However, I want to kick off this shit in an hour or 12 already, and I'm launching 5 polls at the same time (which have a validity of 4 days - then the poll/thread gets locked), every day. So these are the polls which are to be launched in 12 hours from now, meanwhile, I'll slam the rest into a wordpad file, which is more readable - for the rest of the polls

1/85: 2Pac, Black Flag, Daft Punk, Future Sound Of London, Josh Groban, Misfits, Poison, Spandau Ballet, Velvet Revolver

2/85: 7-Mary-3, Black Keys, The Damned, Gang Of Four, Joss Stone, Missy Elliott, The Police, Sparta, Velvet Underground

3/85: 9 Miles, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Dandy Warhols, Gang Starr, Joy Division, Mob Deep, Porcupine Tree, Spoon, Vengaboys

4/85: 5ive, Black Sabbath, Danzig, Garbage, Journey, Moby, Postal Service, Squirrel Nut Zippers, The Verve (this poll is literally tearing my heart apart.. I want more than 3 bands to advance out of this one )

5/85: 50 Cent, Blackalicious, Dark Funeral, Garth Brooks, Juanes, MOD, Prefuse 73, The Stars, The Vines

edit: and to further answer your question, yes, just post info/links etc in said poll, and I'll edit my first post to include it.
20. Awesome, can't wait.
21. Yeah, seriously.
22. Evil, evil, evil. I want 2 from the first, 2 from the 2nd, 3 is cool (Joy Division FTW!), 4 from the 4th (GRRR!!!) and sadly enough I think I'm going to vote for Garth Brooks in the last one, because Friends In Low Places is better than anything 50 Cent ever did.
23. Polls 1-49/85..
