Anyway - we're gonna disagree on that last point. More horsepower isn't going to be enough to steal sales from higher end cars - I agree completely with Guibo.

 

headers and cam change for an LS7 can get 600 RHWP on pump gas. Mid 500's are what most people get with this simple swap. Mild head work easily gets 700 crank hp.

It's not as hard as you think.

I somehow doubt that the base Corvette will roll out with 700 horsepower. I see a 450 base HP 'vette with a 650 horse upgrade
