I agree, I have yet to see an American company make a decent engine that puts out reasonable power that's smaller than 4 litres, and has less than 6 cylinders.

BTW - I race with a stock 1990 Civic SI and I've beaten cars that were in a higher class than me, cars such as 2002 WRX's, misc. Subaru's from 1996 - present, an Audi TT rally edition, a souped up Subaru Justy, etc. (still better cars of course - except that one Mustang, it was hopeless in those races, got close to last almost every time), I wasn't in the same class, but I beat their times, the list was accumulated over the course of a few races. This was rally racing of course, and my car pales in comparison, but it's still capable of competing so I'd consider it far from being "retarded".

First of all, it's all just amateur rally racing, so nobody really has any significant experience, or exceptional ability (well, I like to think I do, but of course I have to get a bit more experience under my belt first).

Second, the Civic SI (particularly a 1990) pales in comparison to cars like the WRX, TT rally edition, etc., but (and this is the reason I pointed it out) that just goes to show that it can compete when a good driver/codriver combination is behind the wheel. Which, IMHO, goes to show that even the 1990 Civic SI is a pretty quick, nimble car.

There were a lot of cars, some are bound to come in behind others, some of the people I beat were slower than me, there were a lot of WRX's that came in ahead of me as well (I had no reason to expect to possibly come in first overall, that would be foolish)

A good example for you is SCCA Pro-Rally. Open class cars generally take the first few positions, but once you get to about 5th overall you start to see Group-N cars ahead of Open class cars, does this mean that a production WRX is better than a modified EVO or WRX or Tibouron? of course not.

Do you get what I'm saying now?

  6. Re: Call now and ugly wing comes for free!!!

oh, and I just realized that I was giving him an example of Honda's being Capable (even their lowest end car, though a 90 Civic SI generally performs better overall than a '90 Prelude), I forgot to mention that in one of those races I came in 8th overall, first for my class, in another I came in 3rd overall, first in my class, in another I came in 12th overall, 3rd in my class, well you get the idea.

  7. Re: Call now and ugly wing comes for free!!!

V8' are good, but this car is supposedly faster than a ZO6 since it does the 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. Although it is stupid to make a sports car with 4 cylinders, if it's got a powerful turbocharger, then it should be capable of running with sports cars carrying V8's.

the ford rs200 evo has about 2 liters & puts out 600 horses

Yes, and isn't it a racing engine?
