I don't think either car is that great performance-wise, compare the power and weight to other hypercars, but i do love both cars despite that, they are really sweet. The F50 beats the F40 in just about anything, especially around the track. I think the F50 is best looking of the two.

the f50 is far more better as well as 10 years more advanced so i would take an f50 anytime over an f40.

both cars kick ass, and are hard 2 beat, most cars need a turbo to beat them!!!!!!!!!!

the f40 looks better in my opinion. but f50 has a better steering system. (the f50 has power steering the f40 doesnt) the f 50 has a better 0-60 although its only seperated by 0.1 sec. id say in most track racers the f50 would win in the turns and so forth but in a straight line the f40 would win. but either way it would be very close

the f50 is a different matter to the f40. the f40 is purely designed for speed explaining why the absence of ABS brakes and power steering. i personally reckon that the f50 was a better overall car in every way. but, the f40 delivers a more exilarating and raw ride.

The F5o is better in the sense that it is faster, more sharp in terms of handling, and better sounding. Get a copy of EVO- January edition and read the road test. 288 GTO vs F40 vs F50 vs Enzo. I've always loved the F5o, and the reason it was never praised like it shouldhave been was because no one was allowed to test one, so of course, there would be no info b/c no one knew anything outside the specs

My opinion is that the F50 is better in all aspects. I feel that it is the definition of SUPERCAR.I think that the F40 beats the F50 in the 1/4 mile partly because it has a 5 speed compared to the F50s 6 speed which would probaly have to shift one more time than the F40s.Im bettin that the F50 has a close ratio 6 speed and the F40 has a more broad range 5 Speed because they roughly have the same top speed.The F50 looks much more better i feel handle better due to the smooth power delivery from the NA V12 and the close 6 speed.it also has superior aerodynamics and suspension such as the engine mountin to the trans.The F40 may have a a better power to weight ratio but you cant compare the power to rate ratios of turbocharged engines to NA engines.They are completely different and the F50 engine most likely has a much more smoother power delivery than the F40s which most likely suffers from some turbo lag.

Go on Kazaa and dl a video of TIff needle testing the F40 and it shows how the car has to be bullied around to be controlled because it has no power steering and is so powerful.There is also another video of the F50 being test drivin against a F1 car on alain prost.It is a great video and shows the goods and bads of the F50.The guy says the the F50 is just amazing over 5000rpm.The exhaust note of the F50 is simply amazing and is in a level of its own.I feel that it is the most best exhaust note ever and i also think that the F50 is the ultimate car.

Basically, it all leads down to the driver and so it doesn't really matter the specs. but if the world was perfect (which it isnt) and the drivers had 100% reacation times (which they dont) the f50 would win on a curcuit but the f40 is built more for strait track racing so depending on where you are racing, depends the outcomes.

ok im back and you know what id just like to explain that i now work at ferrari so eeerm the guy that reconed because he had seen the term LSD appear in a seporate column to Traction Control he knew more about the story of ferrari than i do. hmmm strange that im now a tech director isnt it. so any more smart arse comments mate or have you given up on that
oh and sorry to disapoint the guy that reconed the enzo and the F60 are different things. F60 was the enzo's project name here in maranello

In my oponion both of them are Very fast and beautiful cars but in my opinion the f50 is beter as it has a much newer engine.and is a v12 engine,but on the other hand the f40 has a v8 twin turbo engine which sounds very fast but is not as fast as the f50.Explain to me why would ferrari make the f50 slower than the f40????(makes no sense does it)

I conclude by saying that the f50 is a way better car as it was developed 10 years later with newer technology therefore meaning more power and more reliability.And by the way the f50 has beter aerodynamics at higher speeds to keep you on the road.

 

I think Hands on said it best when he said the f40 is a great muscle car but the f50 pushes the envelope to the supercar title. I think the only thing the f50 lacks in comparison to the f40 is the originality in styling of Ferrari's 40th anniversary model. Other than that, the f50 is without a doubt superior. I have driven the f40 on several occasions, and the lack of power steering makes for some tricky getting used to. I have not, however, driven the f50, but have gone shotgun a few times. The ride the f50 offers in my opinion is the best in the supercar world.

PS in reference to the dumbass kid remark, I am 17 years old and don't care if you take this post into account or not. Those "dumbass kids" you talk about are future, and I would greatly appreciate it if you would take that with a grain of salt. Around the Fiorano track the F50 is several seconds faster than the F40. Key difference is the F50 is a full carbon fiber tube while the F40 still has a steel chassis. The linear power delivery from the F50 V12 allows you to get back on the throttle comign out of a corner earlier than the F40s twin turbos.
