I like the car. A lot of people hate it but I love it. It's a really great looking car and the roar the V8 makes is fantastic. Screw the haters of this car, It's legit.
Cool story. Even though I don't really like its looks much and its seats aren't "said to be" good (mag reviews), I still kinda envy, man <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A> Also, one of the few cars Alpina had tuned to eventually have less hp than the stock Z8.
A lot of magazine reviews say it handles poor. But for an everyday car to go out and drive, I think it serves its purpose.
for the kind of car that it is that isnt really good enough. isnt it loosely-based on the M5? super sexy though. ive always wanted one.
you will never be able to buy one <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/tongue.gif"></A>
Considering the limited production and handbuilt, alloy construction, $60k would have been too low. When they were new, some dealers were commanding (and getting) $60-100k in markups. It was really more of an engineering exercise than a serious, long-term sports car anyway; BMW used it to prepare them for Rolls-Royce manufacturing, and it just so happened they received enough favorable comments on the Z07 concept (itself nothing more than a design exercise) to put it all together.
Also in the town where I work, speaking of fairly limited BMW roadsters, there's a red Z1 popping up every now and then. Always makes my day somehow, despite that I don't think it's exactly the prettiest car they made.
