The way I drive, this was gonna happen sooner or later. I floored it off the line as usual and I heard the LOUDEST bang and grinding. I immedeatly knew it was my differential. But today I was not prepared for the amount of damage, I need a new ring, pinion, and differential. I think that I'm gonna get 4.10:1 gears to replace the 3.55:1 ones. And for the differential, a Zexel Torsen differential because it is one the best ones out there. Instead of conventional ring gears, it uses worm gears. www.precisiongear.com www.reiderracing.com www.torsen.com
It was a coincidence too that a Car Craft issue came out at exactly the same time my diff breaking about replacing the exact parts on the same 8.8" ford diff as mine.
You drive a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor? Wow, that baby must get some respect on the highway. Just don't get rear ended...BOOM! <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
1. Its a Crown Vic, of course it was gonna screw up sooner or later. 2. Why wouldn't you expect a lot of damage, there are tons of metal shards being crunched between tight clearances.
Must be fun to drive, you speed and cars around you slow down, sucks that you blew the rear end though.
