No matter what the car looks like, the dumb name turns everyone away who isn't under oxygen tanks.

Do you actually think a badge is what makes a car? I guess you thought aftermarket appeal is for Japanese cars only...<!-- Signature -->

Oldsmobile is awesome, and anyone who claims that it is their grandfathers oldsmobile has never taken a ride in a 442 W-30. Oldmobile is a great company and with out them the auto industry would be way different, did you all know that oldsmobile was the first auto company to use the to really make use of the assembly line, not ford, and that oldsmobile was the leader in using chrome on cars, and that olds developed the first true modern V-8, not to mention that if they had ever been able to produce their Hemi V-8 the world of drag racing would be totally different, olds' Hemi would have eaten the mopar hemi with Mustard. Oldsmobile deserves a lot more respect than it is getting. So I suggest that we all make it known that oldsmobile is more than just a great car, they are the reason that cars are the way they are, around the world.

Long live the name and soul of oldsmobile

  10. Re: grampa's racecar

I am anxious to know what you drive, probably one of those piece of sh#t four banger imports that need over 20 grand of parts before they could touch the aleros quarter mile stock. If your going to spend money to tune your car, why not start with a car that has some horse power to begin with. I am currently tuning my alero right now and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to put it up against any, yes any, piece of sh#t foreign four banger.Tell you what, get an eclipse like everyone and their fu#@ing brother, then ask me to race you, we'll see who comes out on top. If you think the name makes the car you are one stupid bi#ch.

I also have one question for you, When was the last time a mitsubishi, mazda, nissan or any foreign car company came out with a 442?

  12. Re: grampa's racecar

Getting proud of your car is perfectly fine, but I don't think that an Alero would beat any of the following cars in stock or modded. (well, some of the eight cars might have to get modded as well)

    1. Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR34 V-Spec II
    2. Mazda RX-7 Spirit R FD3S Type A
    3. Toyota Supra RZ
    4. Mitsubishi GTO
    5. Subaru Impreza WRX STi GC8 Ver.5
    6. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8
    7. Honda NSX Type R
    8. Nissan Silvia S-15

  13. Re: grampa's racecar

Ok why don't you compare this car to different cars...IN IT'S CLASS!
None of the cars you just mentioned are in th same class as this car.

  14. god, why dont you compare those imports to a IRL OLDSMOBILE powered indy race car? LOL. didn't oldsmobile dominate that for the last, what? 10 years or so? the only other car that even showed up once in a while was a infinity powered car. oldsmobile was not always a "oldsman" car. that didn't come until the somewhat recently, they were the sporty cars and pontiac was the old mans car. every company import and domestic had crappy old mans cars in the eighty's and early 90's, but olds seems to be the only company that kept that bad name because they were about 2 years behind in changing there style.
