  5. most inventions were either simultaneous in many parts of the world, or improvements over earlier versions of similar products.

    the big ones that you can really trace back are the very basic ones.

    things like fire, the wheel, we will never know who invented, but we can assume it was in Africa. each of the many empires of the old world invented a bunch of things too.

  6. Oh yeah, sweden also "invented" oxygen. Stop breathing our oxygen #$%#ers!

  7. Everything.

    And even if the person who invented the [whatever] was from another country, why weren't they there when they invented it?

    its funny how the 4 basic inventions that pretty much gave rise to the power of Europe in the last few centuries was due to these:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Great_Inventions_of_ancient_China

    * compass
    * gunpowder
    * papermaking
    * printing

    there is some question as to whether or not Europe independently developed printing and the compass some years later, due to the marked differences, but they could've been inspired by the originals that came before them. the chinese compass pointed south, not north, and was less practical for sea faring for example.
