in the USA alone! REDMOND, Wash. Oct. 19, 2004 There hasnÂt been this much anticipation for an otherworldly touchdown since Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon. With three weeks to go before the game hits store shelves, pre-orders for ÂHalo 2 the highly anticipated Xbox exclusive from Microsoft Game Studios have eclipsed the 1.5 million mark in the United States. With phenomenal record-breaking video game pre-orders, ÂHalo 2 is poised to generate more revenue in 24 hours than day one sales of any full feature movie in entertainment history, including ÂSpider-man 2, ÂHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and ÂMatrix: Reloaded. In the U.S., the anticipation builds to a fever pitch on Nov. 9 when thousands of shoppers line up to be among the first to get their hands on the action-packed thriller. The first copy of ÂHalo 2 will be distributed at a Midnight Madness event at the largest Toys ÂR Us in the world located in Times Square, New York. Toys ÂR Us Times Square will open its doors at 12 midnight on November 9, and deliver the first retail copy of the game to a lucky fan. ÂThe original ÂHalo is still a top ten title three years after it hit shelves, and the buzz for the sequel is off the charts, said John Barbour, president, Toys ÂR Us, U.S. ÂWe can think of no more appropriate place to unveil ÂHalo 2 than the site Xbox first launchedÂToys ÂR Us Times Square. More than 6,500 U.S. participating retailers*- including Gamestop, EB Games, Best Buy, Gamecrazy, Game Rush, Circuit City, Kmart Super Center stores and FYE, will open their doors at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9 to allow for sales of ÂHalo 2, Xbox consoles and Xbox Live Starter Kits. The global launch of ÂHalo 2 will also be marked by celebrations from November 9 through November 11 at more than 1,125 retail stores in cities around the world including London, Seoul, Toronto and Sydney. ÂHalo 2 will be translated into seven languages (Japanese, Korean, traditional Chinese, Spanish, French, German and Italian) and will be distributed in 27 countries. ÂÂHalo 2 is expected to be the biggest 24 hours for a video game title in retail history and is projected to bring in more revenue than any day one box office blockbuster movie in the United States, said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of worldwide publishing and marketing for Xbox. ÂWe call it the Halo 2 effect. WeÂve even heard rumors of fan anticipation of the ÂHalo 2 flu on November 9. ÂHalo 2, the follow up to the marquee Xbox title, ÂHalo: Combat Evolved, was selected for the Toys ÂR Us Joy List as one of the expected top sellers this holiday season. ÂHalo 2 utilizes Xbox Live to redefine online play, delivering superior online multiplayer capabilities, which allow gamers to engage with or against friends from around the world in an effort to save humankind. Developed exclusively for Xbox by Bungie Studios, part of Microsoft Game Studios, the original ÂHalo has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide and spawned a legion of powerful devotees who participate in competitions, tournaments and game nights.
Lol, I got mine ordered too As for Doom3, it is good, but not in a halo good way What made halo good was not the graphics, but the gameplay. It is the only FPS to actually offer any sort of sensory overload. All other FPS are sort of one on one in the shooting and combat. In halo, you get shots all around you from numerous allies and enemies. Throw in the music and the fact it was virtually nonstop in action, you got a good game. Finish it off with imersive and instictive controller setups, you get a winner!
The special edition is metal case? I didn't know that, I just ordered it because I like special edition stuff. Dunno why, I just do. Mainly because they have cool cases for the most part
oh no!! i really respect your opinion cause your always so right!!! /sarcasm. for me, halo was one of the best games ever. we already had a thread explaining it, so if you really want to know, go and find it. even ps2 ign did a story on halo 2 and said if you didnt have an xbox you were really missing out.
It's true. Plus I think it has a second disk with "the making of" and stuff like that. Holy crap, it's like exactly 3 weeks [email protected]# Once November 9th comes, I'm no longer going to have a life.
i got it as well, but only cause it was exactly the same price as the normal version
Lol, I know, I got SA to at least pass me for two weeks... Lol, GTA comes out on my Bday. I just hope that I can get the 9th off work as well ha ha.
Not only is Halo the best video game, but it is the ONLY video game. I have never owned any console and never been into video games whatsoever. To get somebody like me into a video game is very tough, but I was hooked on Halo from the first time I played it. I bought an xbox solely for Halo, but no other video game has ever gotten me excited about video games or any of that. You video game lovers can argue all day about graphics and gameplay, but from somebody who doesn't even LIKE video games (in general), Halo is he best, with no competition.
GT4 and Halo 2 were developed and created to be in direct competition with each other. It's been proven.
Those 2 games are called "killer application", means they kill all the competition in what they do, thats what HALO and GT are. Thats why they are in direct competition. And i actualy think they are pretty much the only 2 killer applications out there along with GTA, and MAYBE ace combat, depends how good the 5 will be.
you can actually download the french version of halo 2 in pal format. all we had to do was convert it to ntsf and burn it on a dvd. My friend did it and it works. he got it from some bit torrent site, dont remember
The two games are in totally different categories. Sure, they sure sell a lot of copies, but they appeal to different customers for different reasons. Someone looking for a racing game, is not going to consider purchasing Halo 2 instead, especially since they are both available for different consoles.
I don't like cars and I haven't ever owned one and I've only driven a few. I think a Geo Storm is best because I drove one one time and it was fun. You should listen to my opinion because I don't even LIKE cars.
