yep, they just operate on a different performance level than youll ever know.
Not really. Bikes are actually pretty slow on normal roads.
a lot of people that die on motorcycles say that or have that said about them.
edit: also lol at he can handle a liter bike. how long has he been racing in the AMA?
Well hes had a ton of bikes in the past, mostly dirt bikes but also a kawasaki 636. But he sold it when he got married early this year so this is him getting back in the game.
As for everyone who says its dangerous, thanks for pointing out the obvious, but the fact remains that some people just have a cooler head and bigger balls than you. I dont know of anytime that he has given in to the clueless cagers in everything from civics to carreras who used to try to get him to race them, tailgating, waving like idiots all kinds of shit.
and ofcourse I care for my brother so yes Im worried a bit but if anyone I know can be cool on a such a powerful machine, its him.
yep, keep telling yourself that.
So does a rocket or a airbus , do i care ? no.
it's good that he's mature, but you can do everything right and die in a 20 mph collision. and no one can handle a bike like that unless they have serious experience with it, not just rode bikes for a long time, that doesn't put you in the kind of situations that teach you.
Speak for yourself, I live in Brazil, I watch people get robbed and killed on a daily basis, dont come size my balls with yours.
I used to live in Florida, I had a Honda Fireblade there....
I now live in Brasil, I have a CB 600 Hornet....
Dont come tell me your brother has more balls for driving on an american road than I have riding here....
its Avenida Brasil BR, I take it to work on my bike almost on a daily basis, and sometimes I go out and come back home at like 2-3 in the morning, there are Ghettos on both sides, so they shoot at each other and once in a while drivers get killed in their cars.
Trust me, my riding is'nt half assed either, but, to say that hes cool cause he can handle a sportbike is just not have any idea of what the machine can do......really.
on the corridors, between the cars, if you go slow, the deliveryboys pull up in your ass in the're bike and start litery pushing your out of their way, I have'nt been through one week without someone falling.
I dont care about the size of his balls, but dont come tell me I think he has bigger balls than me because he does'nt.
You're right that the main factor isn't always the rider. Its part of the risk you take as a motorcycle rider and you have to be willing to take that risk and you should also take steps to reduce it.
But saying you can't handle a 1000cc bike on the street unless you're a professional or successful racer is just wrong. Street riding is not as demanding as racing, and if you have experience enough to know how the big is going to respond and also know your own limits, you will be ok.
Edit: Also, I don't want to play down the benefits of track days/racing. Its a great way to improve your street riding skills and it sounds like a lot of fun too. I want to get out to do one next year before I sell my 250.
you proved me right by saying "know your own limits." I'm not trying to imply you need to know how to race motorcycles in order to ride a 1000 safely on the street, but you do need to race motorcycles in order to know 'how to handle it' or whatever. different views of a vague statement
Id love to have one, but crotch rocket riders that dont have dirt experience, I mean a couple years of dirt riding, not sat on your freinds 50 once, are absolute idiots.
Trust me, most things are cooler than the GSX-R.
I hate the styling on them so much.
Still a mega crazy fast bike though.
I also don't care about bikes, unless it's a Ducati.
Just not as good as the Fireblade. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>
I guess he wants to be an organ donor.
Youve obviously never ridden a motorcycle.
except they dont share the road with you..
anyway i like your attitude, better a cager that knows when hes outgunned than one in a civic who thinks he can take down a literbike.
Never said he is cool because he can handle a literbike, I said he is cool enough in the head not to pin it at every stoplight to race the random pimple faced teenager with a mustang revving at him.
I can take down a liter bike in a civic
Congtars. Hope he's careful <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
Mustangs revving it at lights aren't the problem. It's the retarded soccer mom not checking her blind spots and such.
V8Z, ain't no dirt around here.
Now why do I get the feeling there are some posts here solely because this was posted in General Chat and not Bikes sub forum... <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
