First things first... This has 99.99% nothing in common with the road car that's been on and off again development. The same goes for the GTR and the rest. Some of the body parts resemble the street car. because of this Honda will not be using this platform for Development or research for the road car. They have a finished product but can't release it yet due to many things one of which is market concerns and economy. But it will come to market when they see fit. The reason for the change in gt500 is because they could not race the nsx anymore and needed a replacement. Also lotus will be using the LFA engine in one of there future cars maybe the new esprit from what I'm told from an insider in Toyota/lexus. There is a sound clip and now video but I'm on my Mobile so I can't post it yet.
I doubt Toyota will allow them to use the LFA engine that would make their car less exclusive Honda on the other hand has nothing to lose since they dont seem to be planing a new sports car my guess is Lotus will be give IS-F V8
More pictures and a whole bunch of videos. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/27/video-honda-hsv-010-caught-testing-at-suzuka/#continued I'm 99% certain that this 3.4 liter V8 comes directly from the Acura LMP2 cars.
The require that a car is either in production or production READY. there are other rules but i dont have the rulebook on me. http://www.supergt.net/en/ All the GT500 cars are nothing like the street going car, just slight apperance wise. they are all tube frame or composit and all have v8's and RWD regardless of the road going version. they produce over 500hp but use restrictors to 500hp. they also have massive amounts of downforce. read and watch video http://speedhunters.com/archive/2008/12/05/video-gt-gt-the-world-s-fastest-nissan-gtr.aspx
