Some supras have up to 1500hp with stock blocks, everything else though is modified.

    i agree

  3. Re: how could you get 512Hp from a inline 4???

    What's its 0-60??
How about top speed?? It'll probably blow up before it gets there.

  4. Re: how could you get 512Hp from a inline 4???

Well being that BMW had a 4cylinder 1.5litre in f1 back in the 80's up against 6 8 10 and 12 cylinders that right there should tell you that its 0-60 time was pretty good since it gave the other cars a run for their money as for top speed all you would have to do would be to look on the net for specs of it or if you want to go look for the old stats of the races bmw used their 1/5 litre 4cylinder pumping 1500bhp and it will tell you. As for blowing up before it gets to 1500 bhp dont count on it the reason it had only 1500bhp is because bmw was making a statement when in F1 back in the early 80's the satatement being - Look at us everyone we get higher hp, higher torque, faster take off, faster accewleration with our 4 cylinder whihc costs us less to produce then a 5 6 8 10 12cyl or bigger engine. After trying to explain that to you Need4SpeedGuy if you still dont beleive me that a 4 cylinder can handle 1500bhp and more you should really go to a few drag races the latest one i read about in Super Street magazine Stephen Papadakis was driving a drag celica with 2100bhp i think it said im not sure ill have to double check the bhp figure but i know its either close or more then that. Also note when Toyota started gettin into drag they were using a 4 cylinder with trd parts pulling 1500+bhp then they switched to the TRD v8 block and were getting so well eta's racing that they were actually banned from using there truck because it was no contest to other racers.

"In the early 80s BMW had a 1.5L 4cyl (for F1) making closer to 1500bhp."

"true but they also ran to about 12,000 rpm and about 30-40 pounds of boost depending on qualifying or race setup. also full rich mixture for the fuel"

Not true in the 80's when BMW was using their inline 4 it was on bar 3 out of bar 7 of boost about 15-20lbs of boost. It was an amazing engine and car however BMW was banned from using that car.

  6. Re: how could you get 512Hp from a inline 4???

Teo Fabi put it on pole for the 1986 grand prix of Italy, Monza. So it didn't "Blow up". Also, Formula ones are not geared for top speed.

nice 80s BMW story i will not argue was it true or not but i like the idea of small engine pumping up loads of HPs. haveing 500+ hp / liter is amazeing. id like to have this kind of engine in my car :-D

btw. Leblanc Caroline rocks but imo in yellow it looks kinda silly :/ still a technically great car.

    how???

  9. Re: how could you get 512Hp from a inline 4???

well this is how u get 512HP from a inline 4....
    1) change engines with a dodges without telling the people who check the stats of the car
    2)use NOS instead of petrol
    3) Add turbos
    4) Add muffer as this is not usally specified so u get more hp without them knowing

  10. the BMW F1 cars were getting 1500 bhp form a 1500cc 4 cylinder in the eighties

  11. 500 horsepower from a inline 4 is common. (Not that great) Watch some drag racing every now and then, there are inline 4s making 1000 horsepower everywhere! (That 250 a cylinder!!)

  15. quote: In the early 80s BMW had a 1.5L 4cyl (for F1) making closer to 1500bhp.

they used to leave the engine out in the rain so the weatheing would wear all the ports of the engine in... so its hardly a standard 4cyl

  16. dunoh but how da heck a o-60 time of 2.7sec's possible in a 4cylinder twin turbo

  17. have you ever seen the horsepower numbers on a honda civic drag car. a lot of them have well over 500hp and some even have over 1000hp and thats out of a 1800cc engine with only one turbo. the key is to have a lightweight rotating mass. that way it takes less energy to spin it so more horsepower is available. if a lightweiht crank, pistons, flywheel, and pulleys are used in conjunction with a good sized turbo(usually they're about 120mm)its easy to put out a lot of power. higher compression can also yield higher horsepower but there is a limit as to how high the compression can go with turbos in order to avoid detonation.

  18. you're a complete tard, just thought you should know

  19. How do you get 512hp from a 4 banger? Boost, Boost and more Boost!

  20. A lightweight cam and flywheel can do it. Staged turbos would also help.

  21. imagnine this car company making a twin turbo'd flat 16...

    aghh

  22. UM......Yeah....Sure turbos don't work like that, HUH?!? SO...where...OH WHERE did you get/learn this information from, A.D.B.M?!? The reason I ask is because, according teachers and fellow classmates in DADC and VO-Tech (the Vocational H.S Tech's Autobody Repair& Refinishing Program up here in Colorado) have said, on ANY engine that has AT LEAST 2 turbos (especially Inline-4s-Inline-6s) will use either parallel or in-series style of design, its all depending on usage, also how fast you want them spool and the desired rpm range you want them to operate in.

Secondly I ask is because, I've got an Associate of Applied Sciences Degree in Automotive Tech., from the now defunct DADC, which are now calling themselves Lincoln Collage of Technology, ayah. That's where my knowledge comes from just odd a let you in that tidbit of info. Plus, what dojos and Martial Arts styles do you know, hmmm???

Oh......yeah my final thoughts in regards about 1700hp Inline-4s. So far the only ONE that I've heard of is a Scion Tc making 1400hp, a far cry from 1700hp isn't??? Plus, with those kinds of numbers, THEY SHOULD ONLY BE DRAG CARS, period N.S!!!...OH...Yeah 4 or 6 cylinders can use separate EXHAUST (or TURBO manifolds...get it, "STUD"), its all depending on...again SETUP and the desired application, driving style, etc, get it Cablejockey??
