I like this car

  1. i dont care what people think of it. the type R was designed for the track. not big on HP but its very nimble and in japan and europe where they actually race these cars on real tracks, they do considerably well. In those countries they find racing in a straight line boring and indeed it is.

    Great car for SPOON upgrades and other good JDM parts like zeal, endless, etc..

    Id buy one.

    i wouldnt personally

    much of the reason is because of the aftermarket. its damn near impossible to get any nice mods for one becuase all people buy are r!ce mods. you cant buy a decent sounding exhaust for one of these.

    you also have to put way more money into one of these to get it to profrom like a v6 then you would to juss upgrade your car to one with a v6. im not one of those "oh you and your pussy i4" guys. i juss think id be smart to get a car with the v6 in the first place and go from there, which is why i bought a gti VR6.

    juss my opinion, not a bad car in any way, actually a very nice car, juss not my bag.

    Um...have you ever driven a Type-R? they quite often beat V6's, STOCK, and they don't need any modifications to do it.

    That was BMWMPOWER1's point, as they decimate the competition in the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship), In Speed TV's Touring Championship, they have been known to run well ahead of the other cars in their Class, and even run ahead of a lot of the cars above their class (and that with Si's with only the handling modified for racing, not even the Type-R).

    Now don't come in here comparing the Golf to the Civic, cause I could give you quite a few examples of the Golf getting worked. (not that I think that you're comparing them, just mentioning it in case you're getting any ideas)<A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>. Just because a car has a V6 engine doesn't mean it's fast (though the VR6 is fairly quick), it's the overall design of the car that makes it fast, there are numerous 4 cylinder engined cars that are faster than a lot of V6, and even V8 engined cars, so don't underestimate the potential of 4 cylinders.

    Yeh you can't underestimate 4 cylinders but most 4 cylinders wouldn't touch an 8 unless they were blown.

    The Civic, Elise, Clio, 306, etc. are some of the exceptions to that, but yes, you're right, there aren't many 4 culinders that can touch a HIGH PERFORMANCE 8 cylinder (though I see I4 cars that are faster than typical V8's almost every day).

    never touch a type R with any aftermarket parts

    type-r engines are actually b18c-4's(japan only normally) they take the b18 stripp it port and polish i think they bore it out but it is stoked balanced and MANY other thing even i dont know(or feel like naming now too many) but mainly tuned for perfection

    check out a honda tuning some tell what they do to the b18's to make them type R spec
