I have a new project. Project Rotary Miata. I already have a Miata lined up, going to go out and check out loan and percentages tomorrow.
I have pics.
Are you keeping the 7?
13b/12a? what kind of porting, etc are going to do with the miata?
Project Twisted 5.
Streetport 13b, TII turbo. Just 350ish hp would be a good goal. Yeah, I am keeping the 7, it is maxed out as far as NA modifications without cracking the engine open. Found a guy here that has a shop (i knew him for a while, but didnt know he was this close!) and he said if I bring him a good motor and turbo, he will rebuild both and street port it for 1800$.
Only thing is I need to get a TurboII transmission and custom driveshaft. Also, I need to see the engine bay without the engine in it, and look for a good spot to weld the crossmember for the brace. Depending on where I can weld, will depend on which generation of RX engine I can put in.
I am going to have the license plate say MX-7
Here are pics of the car. First off, I am going to take off the ungodly rear bumper. The front is not as bad, but still not what I would want. I wouldnt mind having no bodykit and leaving the flush mounts and CF hood.
EDIT: Entertain me on how much you think the car is worth.
my miata runs, but there are some problems with it. i see that your listing says **** max. ill gladly take that since you said you were looking for a miata without trans and engine. the thing is, you would get all that with the car! i love my miata, but i need the money cause im looking to get an apartment and i cant have 2 cars anymore. the background on the miata is that there is 99860 original miles. it has been turbocharged once back at 93k miles. there is a new clutch from competition clutch(6 puck) as well as a 1.8 flywheel. there are new spark plugs, new wires, cf hood, headlight conversion, vis racing wizdom body kit, and fresh paint job. the car runs, but since not driving it in a few weeks, the battery is dead. a simple diagnostic test should find the problem with the car as i couldnt set the idle or timing back to stock. for 1500 you can come take this baby and make it yours! if you have any other questions, let me know. as for the interior, everything is fine. you can pm me on yahoo messenger, or even call me at 7068880262.
So where you live, im assuming canadian or american, sorry i dont know, are theyre many rota fanatics?
America. No, not many, but the few who are are very... I dont want to say hardcore, but they love them. Lots of people can't get over the blown apex problem of early rotaries (Read: Cosmo/RX-2
Yes its true, most rota fans are quite hardcore about them. I love the early rotaries, r100s/2/3s, one day when i feel like working on cars a lot
Ever have/drove a car where you can feel the powerband? Either not much down low but you can feel it push you back in the seat once it gets higher? Or have a powercurve that falls off after a certain RPM? Rotaries do not do that, it is so linear. That is, unless you bridgeport it, then you feel a nice push once you hit 4000 to redline (mostly around 8-9k)
Nice project mate. You should do a photo report during the build?
god that car looks ugly.
the rear bumper doesn't work, but I like the front.
definitely. I just talked to the guy for like an hour... geez.
Rear bumper I hate. Front bumper I dont like much but since I got the money poured into the engine, that will have to do.
Hmm.. hopefully he hasn't driven the shit out of it.
I suggest selling that CF hood and those shitty bumpers to invest in new suspension.
Go to the junkyard and get a regular hood maybe. Aren't the hoods on the Mk1 fiberglass or aluminium or something?
