If you could change anything on it?

Discussion in '2000 Saleen S7' started by BurnOut3:16, Dec 20, 2002.

  1. If i could have this changed i would keep everything but the engine, i think this car truely diserves a V12, and i know size doenst matter too much, but with a V12 this car would be totaly different. It could pump more HP, and when someone asks you what engine you have under the hood, you could say "thats a V12"

  2. Re: If you could change anything on it?

Yeah and Man I have to agree with you a V12 would be awesome on this baby

  3. Re: If you could change anything on it?

get a 7L V12 and some work on the interior

  4. Re: If you could change anything on it?

I think the Interior looks pretty good.

  5. Re: If you could change anything on it?

If i could change something, I would change the price

This thing is EXPENSIVe for its performance. Which is too bad because i love the way it looks and it handles really well

  6. Re: If you could change anything on it?

yes true a V12 would be good, the xj220 lacked a V12 when that came out!!The Saleen engine is an awesome sound and performance,so different from any other engine i've driven!!and f!##**ing quick!!

  7. Re: If you could change anything on it?

Yeah i'd either put a V12 in it or maybe put a super charger on it which wouldnt be as affective as a V12 but it would still put some more power in the engine.

  8. Re: If you could change anything on it?

u don't just pay for performance

  9. Re: If you could change anything on it?

maybe add a few more luxuries and a sound system

  10. Re: If you could change anything on it?

Yes I agree this car looks pretty good and it's American,I'm impressed! Now as for what I would change on it,I would change the engine, throw in a high-tech Euro or Japanese engine in this slut doesn't have to be v12(though that be sweet)I'd settle for a V6 Twin turbo, example Xj220(Dream on) or a more realistic Supra Twin turbo engine or SkyLine engine oh yeah!lol
I also don't like this interior,I would change that around to,lol.
But man other then that this is a good looking exotic, and it's the ONLY American car that I like, lol.

  11. Re: If you could change anything on it?

twin turbo that should pick things up a bit

  12. Re: If you could change anything on it?

i agree with a nicer interior mostly colour, but i really do like the "gills" and the hood scoop. i like the back of the vector but the front is too much of an edge, it sort of looks out of prespective

  13. Re: If you could change anything on it?

Y'know, it's funny that you think it would have more power with a V12. Take a look at the Pagani Zonda. Nearly the same price and displacement, and while the Zonda has a V12, it has only 6 hp more than the Saleen, with .3L more displacement.

Saleen could get 700 hp out of the 427 currently in the S7, but guess what... He obviously doesn't want to! Power obviously isn't a problem, mild tuning on this engine could easily yield over 600hp.

  14. Re: If you could change anything on it?

needs 32 valves, not just 16.

  15. Re: If you could change anything on it?

yes i agree the interior and a V12 with multi valves and DOHC's, nice.
or just borrow a couple of BMW McLaren engines and bore and stroke them ...

  16. Re: If you could change anything on it?

agreed. i also have to bring up the fact that the chassis is made from steel, so i would replace the steel chassis with a carbon fibre one.

  17. Re: If you could change anything on it?

    nothing

  18. Re:

A jap engine would mess it up.

  19. Re: Re:

    anti jap hmmmmmm?

  20. Re:

    I'd also change its 7.0L V8 for a 48-valve DOHC V12.

  21. Re: If you could change anything on it?

Why does eveyone want a V12? This car does fine with its V8 which already has more displacement thant the enzo or mclaren engines. And i don't think turbos are a great idea. This car thrives on its massive torque, again more than the enzo and mclaren, its what makes the car so quick. The one thing i would change is the steering wheel. Most of you don't know this but the small diameter wheel blocks your view of the guages, you can't see the top half of any of em.

  22. Re: If you could change anything on it?

mate displacement doesn't mean anything. if displacement is all that matters u can have a truck engine with 8.3L(viper) and i will take the 3L williams BMW F1 engine. i wonder which one would be better. and don't mention reliability - i am doing the extreme example thing.

  23. Re: If you could change anything on it?

I'd put an automatic transmission on it........hahahahahah PSYCH!
Keep the stick, add another 150 hp, upgrade the brakes, and I'm happy.

  24. Re: If you could change anything on it?

hey no problem u take the 3L formula engine and u will accelerate like a snail...250lbs of torque for a supercar is not something to brag about...

and no the 8.3L is not a truck engine get ur facts straight, ur just mad that 500hp and 500lbs of torque was made out of a american car reliably with a 100,000mile warranty to go with it...something u will not see on any supercar ANY...

or like the saleen ITS MILD TUNED..

but since were going extreme, give me a drag engine 602ci with 6000hp and 4500+lbs of torque...

THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT, substitutes yes but nothing will replace displacement...

simple hp equation hp=(torque x rpms)/5252...now u could replace displacement with rpms, but that robs torque becuz u need smaller parts smaller strokes and bores smaller everything, sure in a car that weighs 1700lbs 250lbs of torque is ok, but imagine 800hp AND 800lbs of torque that f1 car would fly, hell i bet a f1 driver wouldnt be able to keep up with the acceleration...

u want to get more technical i can, just to prove that displacement will never be replaced....so take 3L torqueless bmw engine with little hp and i will take my drag engine and put u back to preschool...

    I personally would absolutely love 2 stick one of those hamann v12s in there<A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
