It is truly amazing that this 4 gear rocket could reach these speeds back then. This is probably why Mercs are so well established nowadays when they had sh*t like this in the past!!!!!!

Wonder what the 0-60 is!!!

Look dumass it is a mercedes body but they changed the engine re-tuned the gearbox and the only reason that it goes that fast is 'cause its so F****** light

shut the #$%# up it has 736 horses. in addition it gets 131hp/litre that is amazing wth pushrods(I"M GUESSING HERE) does this run on gasoline?

Basic physics implies:

Light car = better acceleration
Stronger engine = better acceleration + higher top speed
Less drag = higher top speed

Theoretically a cars top speed is when air resistance equals the maximum power output from the engine (and you have gotten the gears correct).

This car has great aerodynamics and a strong engine - so it is fast. I think the engine is the most impresive part of this car when you look at it's age.

Just think what we could make today if FIA didn't impose regulations on every type of motorsports. I think race cars going 450 - 500 km/h would be possible, but no one in their right mind would drive them.

Not really. Yeah it's got an infinitely low Cd. but look- it's butt-ugly. And then there's the weight. Besides, it would have taken like some 5 minutes for this to reach its top speed..
