ironic, really... seeing as the japanese cars came on over in the wake of emissions murdering the muscle car. now its like it's catching up to the japanese biggies =S oh well<!-- Signature -->

  2. I am glad that mazda realized that they need to keep this car out. I love the rx-7.

  3. Re: Its about time.

me too. It saddened me that they stopped making it.<!-- Signature -->

  4. Re: Its about time.

Got news for you guys, then never stopped making it. It's always been available overseas since it's inception, it just hasn't been imported to the US for the last several years.

  5. Re: Its about time.

yeah the 70's emmisions made every car the crap for a while.
then the 80's styling was bad for the most part but now everything is back to the good old days .
    oh rx7 how i've missed ye<!-- Signature -->

    indeed...
car emission regulations killed the Rx-7 as well as the Supra, the 300ZX and the 3000GT VR-4<!-- Signature -->

I think he meant they stopped selling it in the States. A friend of mine had an old '87 RX-7 and we used to thrash it around the hilly rounds of Okinawa, Japan. A damn fun car.

  8. Re: Its about time.

I have been emailing supercars.net for the past year to add a feature on this car or the 99 GT-C. If all goes well, I will be importing a 99 GT-C for only $50,000. :D<!-- Signature -->

So are the 300ZX and Supra and others mentioned still being made in Japan? I thought their production runs had stopped completely.

  12. Re: Its about time.

Nope they never stopped making the Supra/RX-7 the 300ZX I'm not to sure about but I wouldn't be suprised.

all of it is still being made in japan..and i think they stopped making it here in the us because of low sales...im not sure though..i mean when the average consumer compares the different cars..a 3000gt vr4..or a 300zx twin turbo..costing at about 45 grand brand new..then theres the corvette with such a big name..costing 45 grand as well..most people went for the corvette

  15. Re: Its about time.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the RX-7, Supra, and 3000GT all disappeared from the ranks of sport coupes in the American market due to a declining demand for cars in that segment and those models' annualy rising prices, compounded with the rise in sales of the truck and SUV segments.

  16. Re: Its about time.

Yep. The US get these brilliant sports cars that absolutely kick arse, and yet they still go buy huge trucks that mostly handle like shit for ON-road purposes.

  17. Re: Its about time.

Well I hope that this car stays in america. My freind has 91 twin turbo. It will blow my camaro out of the water. I have so much respect for that car.

  18. Re: Its about time.

I can tell you they stopped making the 300ZX, but the supra and RX-7 still continued, bout time this came back out, and hopefully in the states too

yeah too bad they are hunks of shit is why you don't see to many of them around. not because they are hard to find because they have horrible reliablility. They are quick though i will give them that.<!-- Signature -->

  20. Re: Its about time.

a good 80,000 mile lifespan sure makes it a great bang for the buck. Good luck buying a used one cuz there is no telling how much maintenence the guy before ya did. If this bad boy costs 33 k new, which it prolly costs a bit more in the US, I'd happily take a used C5 vette over it... that's just me though<!-- Signature -->

  21. Re: Its about time.

They only die so easily because when some uninformed idiot rags on the engine for 3 minutes straight, it warps the apex seals, and sometimes causes the engine compartment to become so hot that the battery leaks acid causing engine fires. I have seen many 150k+ miles RX-7's. To ensure they will last a long time, exchange the stock apex seals with 3mm ones and relocate the battery. The 3mm apex seal conversion cost me $900 with parts and labor. I eat C5's for breakfast. :p<!-- Signature -->

  22. Re: Its about time.

excuse me, but by "rags" is that equivalent to "canes the shit out of it"?

  23. Re: Its about time.

FInally they brought it bak...mazda has finally done something right.hahaha..its the best car that they made and lets hope that they are going to stay with this idea to keep it out on the market, instead of doing what they did before, by takin it off the market...NOw the RX-7 is a car..nothing can tes with it..yess it does sorta look like a vette bt it has a unique look and its juss siKKKK....finally mazda is headin the right direction..now all they need to do is throw the rx-8 into the garbage cause thats lookin allot like ass right now..<!-- Signature -->

  24. Re: Its about time.

Is there any good reason why this car was taken out of the US. I think everything about the car is awesome.
