Just trying to find out which car this is, and whether it's a genuine 'S' model or modified to look like one.

As you can see, it's been ruined a bit with horrible wheels and a matte paintjob (apparently not a wrap) and it's for sale. I'm assuming it could be either the silver or black cars that were in the US and had been modified and spotted at SEMA in the past couple of years but I've no idea so far.

  5. It's going to be #784 or #802 as Charlie from SCC winked when someone else asked if this was one of Dr Vahe's former cars.

#784 was the black one and last I heard it was in a collection in Arizona. No idea where #802 has been but I'd call that the most likely possibility at this point. Hopefully tomorrow we'll have an answer.

  6. Where in Arizona? I'd love to shoot that car. It's been one of my favorite cars for a while now.

  7. the wheels are awful but it looks really good in matte black

  8. I came across this car twice while at SEMA and just about vomited all over it. What a fantastic waste of the prettiest supercar of all time...

  9. its more of a gray/charcoal, not black.........and it looks really good

however, those wheels are a crime, they are so #$%#ing horrible.....someone needs to be flogged for that.

  10. diggin the paint job, hating the rims.

  11. Probably Scottsdale, but I'm not sure - sorry.

  12. I was thinking the same, but I'd have thought I'd heard of it by now, since I know most everyone in the exotic community. Though, there are a few guys with crazy collections that basically keep it to themselves and rarely bring cars out.

The BRG one was chassis #801 which has been repainted silver and is now in the USA. It wasn't one of the original 220S' - the chassis was built to be a 220C - the LeMans race version - and was later modified to be Tom Walkinshaw's personal 220S.

    See basman007's XJ220S galleries here:

We later determined the yellow 'Mystery car' in the first gallery of photos I took was #802 at a mid-point in its life.

I saw the car today in person at the LA Auto Show in Specialty Car Craft's booth. According to one of their booth babes this car was originally black before they repainted it making it almost definitely chassis #784.
