im posting this her in general cause it gets more visibility after riding a jetski for the 2nd time yesterday (first time being years ago) im so tempted to buy one once i get home. suggestions/experience for brands/ect? most of it will be just crusing rivers, but ill want to be able to tow say a skier/wakeboard/biscut
I don't know I've always ridden sea-doos because that's what my relatives in the Caribbean have owned. Last summer I rode the RXT model and it was amazing. 215bhp, it goes 70mph, which is amazing on water. I highly recommend it.
i saw that thing too. never read it <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/PnutSpecial.gif"></A>
Sea-Doo's performance models are nice. Get the supercharged motor, that's the one that will do the 4-second 0-60 dashes. Technically "jet ski" is a vehicle you ride standing up, such as the original Kawasaki Jet Ski.
The past three weekends I have been riding my friend's Kawasaki STX-12 and that thing is just the funnest toy ever. It might "only" have 130hp but I reached 60mph with the wind pushing me and it felt twice as that. They're really great toys. I would love to ride one of those supercharged beasts though. Here's the link to the one I have ridden: http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/detail.aspx?id=195&content=introduction
yeah, i think i might just get a cheap one (ie under 5 grand) to start off with, and see how i go from there
I've got a 1998 Bombardier SeaDoo GTX and with a 130 hp engine, it's quite fast. I took that model because it's a 3 seater and also got a reverse. And towing skiers with it is a breeze. And it's a blast to drive too.
I couldn't imagine it ever being worth it to buy one yourself. Just rent / borrow. You'd get sick of it if you owner it, and then you'd be kicking yourself for buying one.
That IS mine!<A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/angry.gif"></A>

Jet skis are extremely fun, the major problems are the gas and inability to carry a bunch of people. But yeah if you get a big one that seats 3 you can do tubing and water skiing, plus have all the fun of playing in the waves/wake. The reason I quoted you, though, is because i wanted to ask what you use the reverse for on a jetski?
Renting jet ski's is really pricey, if you plan on going several times a year you're better off buying. Also it really doesn't seem like it would get boring, you probably have never ridden one if you say that.
