hey (this is for the ppl who started this post) muscle cars rule its not bout the hp... well sorta is but still the engine carries the whole car and thats what makes it great... these things nowadays with their gadgets and gizmos and nos and crap just #$%# it all up what hes tryin to say is muscle cars are the real cars and make that a 1970 chevelle ss spice up the 454 engine and get nother 1968 camaro ss they both look nice ..... and theyre cheap too so thats pretty good

god why do i always see such silly people around here!!??!? you'd take a 72 chevelle SS over a 2002 BMW M3 cabrio!??! SOOOOOO SILLY i can't believe it really.....first of M3 are the best sports car in everything, your car might have some extra HP, but it does have nothing!!!! does it have all the traction control that are present in this car...i bet that you wouldn't be able to handle it if it slightly rains...

Silly and moreover, this car is 2002, your 72 crap will have to spend all his time in repair and maintenance,,,and this one is god damn beautifull !!!

SO GROW UP !

5. Re: Let me tell you what you get for $55000...

why would u buy a convertible M3 nyday? - its not like u could exploit it around a racetrack...id stick to a hard top M3 nyday..even though its not as 'trendy' or whatever...its 10X more practical...u could use the engine to its full capacity in the HT version...this ones for rich yuppies that have no idea on how to drive properly, so just wanna look cool cruisin, not using the car on the track!

6. Re: Let me tell you what you get for $55000...

even if you did that you wouldent get half the prestige as in a M3

7. Re: Let me tell you what you get for $55000...

WOW! It quite easy to piss people off these days .....thank you guys for all replies and posts, you've guys done a great job!
Now I'm even more convinced that there aren't a single person in this forum who actually owns or have owned an late model Bimmer M3.

5,000 for a Chevelle SS? Closer to 20,000. Besides this car looks way better.

9. Re: Let me tell you what you get for $55000...

I would probably take the BMW.
I have been in a hot rod chevelle
And I admit they are fast as all Hell
But the balance is in the Lt1 C4 or C5 corvette
At about the same price as well as a small speed advantage.
And it looks much better on the outside and not bad on the inside IMO.

But if it’s all about the luxury & looks I would rather have the 7 series over all of the above.

BTW I have heard allot of negative American comments in this forum
Like you typical American.. WTF! Your shit aren’t all that. I would take a Lincoln or caddy over most Euros in a heartbeat. We have plenty of nice cars in America and frankly allot of us are tired of the maintenance spent on cars produce in Europe.

Don’t beleave the hype the M3 spends more time in the shop than a Corvette or Mustang. Whenever you try to push that much hp out of such a small engine expect to pay a price for it.
IM the owner of both an 95 Lt1 corvette and 95 5.0 mustang GT
Both have never had any major repairs to this date.
But my old jaguar XJ6 and Mitsubishi starion turbo stayed in the shop.
It all comes down to how much hp you push into an engine vs. what it can realistically handle that determines its life span.
IM sure if one were inclined they could build a v8 engine powered chevelle that could kick some major M3 ass without tearing itself apart. the corvette ZR1 and its LT5 engine still held the endurance record the last time I checked.

bmw. hands down. sure there are cars that go 0 to 60 faster. sure there are cars with more raw power, luxury, and handling. but honestly, what other car has the speed, handling, luxury, prestige, and beauty of an m3. not too many. oh yea, and for about 55 k, roughly the same price as a corvette. so shut up and stop whining that it "only" has 333 hp, and "only" goes 0 to 60 in 4.8. that's a hell of a lot faster than anything anyone on this forum drives.

Who the hell is this Chump talking all this muscle car idiocy?!?! Dont get me wrong, i think muscle cars are awesome however it is impossible to make a comparison between a thirty year old muscle car and a new M3 convertible. they could not be more different! A muscle car has speed (to an extent) sound without a doubt, and in some cases looks but that is it! An M3 on the other hand has similar speed, beautifull crisp sound and great looks, especially the convertible with 19s. I have just sold my fully loaded 2002 E46 M3 Convertible In Imola Red. and it does everything your everyday driver wants it to do. it can fit four people in comfort and plenty of luggage in the trunk, it has all ther navigation and electronics you could need, it is very reliable ( believe me i seriously abused mine while i had it and it took everything i threw at it) i drove mine both in val d'izere in the french alps and Monaca in the summer and it embraced all weather conditions. mine had no limiter s she could reach 170mph even with the top down. Finally i have driven a lot of high performance, high priced cars and i test drove every competitor to this car that i could think of and i have to say that this is the best all round car i have ever had the privelage of driving. please please please do not even try and compare the superbly inferior Porsche Boxter S to the BMW M3 Convertible SMG 2. P.s SMG is the best transmittion option in the world!! all i can say is 0.08 second gear change!!! Launch control also kills most car!! i was up against some guy in his 360 modena on a straight road in my home town of Cheltenham in England, he was driving the manual 360 and i was in my car, we were at the lights and when it came to it, with my launch control and smg gearbox vs. his 360 manual transmission, he was ahead of me up untill the change to 2nd when the smg took over, by the time we got to the next set of traffic lights about 200yds up the street he was only JUST ahead of me!!!
