On the morning of October 7th, 2008, at the Rockingham, NC raceway, the Maxximus set three new World Records and is now unquestionably the fastest street car on the globe. Marlon Kirby drove:

0 - 60 mph: 2.134 seconds, breaking his old WWR of 2.3 seconds. The record that stood for years was 2.6 seconds. No more!

0 - 100 mph: 4.541 seconds, eclipsing the again long standing previous record of 5.3 seconds!

0 - 100 mph - 0: 8.861 seconds, again shutting down with finality the previous long standing record of 9.4 seconds!

The Maxximus' previous success was on September 9th, 2008 at The Rock (the Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina), when Marlon first broke the 0 - 60 mph World Record with 2.3 seconds.

  2. Autozeitung has some comparison sheet and pics:
  3. somehow i don't get the impression that it's really street legal. not many cars with catalytic converters and normal gasoline can produce "1600++Hp"

edit: also, they got a rolling start, what kind of bullshit is that?
  4. Isn't this the Ultima thats going for 3 million?
  5. yeah, that´s the one
  6. Typical american test driver.
  7. ... bringing soem extra weight to the car to keep it on track <A BORDER="0" HREF=""><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A><A BORDER="0" HREF=""><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

    Jeeeeezzzus christ....
When 1000HP ultimas just arent doing it for you anymore.

I dont know about this one being all that road legal, but I met a guy that makes 1000+hp street legal ultimas like its nothing. This is the guys personal car which he drove from chicago up to ALMS in august. Drove it himself, not trailered.
  9. is that the only one?
  10. Yawn.

    Also, 3 million. Lulzy.
  11. post AWD double busa Ultima
  12. I always knew the Ultima had the potential because it's held just about every performance record for years now (from skidpad to braking to 0-60 to the quarter mile and the famous 0-100-0 mark).

Now it's just a game of horsepower. Very impressive that a RWD car with "1600++hp" could get it's power down fast enough to lay down these times...

Were these runs done on street tires?!
  13. it annoys me when people take an existing car.....slap an engine in it and name it something as if it was their own creation.

in my eyes they are just a tuner, not a car builder

but very badass performance...... of course thats to be expected with huge power in an amazingly designed chassis.
  14. well considering that Ultima doesnt make its own cars, nor do they even specify an engine for it, a lot of the work had to be done by these guys. They probably did more work than Ruf does on 911s.

I dont really know exactly how much they did though, but theyre asking 3 million for it... they must think they did something amazing...
  15. 3 million?!

  16. Supposedly, they reengineered a lot of the car to handle the power.
  17. I'd say $500,000 is more fair. Regular Ultimas (kit + drivetrain) usually cost in the range of $100,000 or so.

Amazing car, but doesn't really deserve its own name or a $3 million price tag.
  18. No way, this shouldn't cost anything more than a Caparo costs, otherwise its a ripoff.
  19. This is retarded.
  20. i seriously hope the run they took the acceleration times off of wasn't the one in the video. otherwise the numbers are bullshit.
